5pm, but deals keep coming for a few hours after.

Long Day at work tomorrow. And Inspectors in the afternoon. That equals no sneaky Internet use.

We have freeview TV, but only had 9 satellite channels. Luckily that had Sky Sports News. Which was great.

Now, the satellite isn't working and we've got Terrestrial BBC1, BBC2 and ITV.

Wankers.

For what it is worth I think (pure guess work) that Moses will complete his move (if he has not already) and then Danns and Clyne will follow. I also think that someone like Hull could come in for Ambrose. It is going to be a long eventful day as others have said.

The thing is I actully do want us in a way to lose some players because if we do not I can't see how the club will survive (should we fail to attract new investment).

I asked the question on another thread. I'm pretty sure over here the window closes at midnight so I'm not certain if transactions can go through, for example, between French and English teams in the evening. I can't be bothered to check.

pauldrulez
31-01-2010, 10:29 PM
French teams are able to buy players from English teams during that time.

English teams can only buy players until 5pm.

I'm suprised that the only real speculation seems to be clyne to Sunderland and danns to Soton
If wheels aren't already in motion, is there realistically time for other deals to be done from start to finish before 5pm? ie a club decides it wants our player, clubs agree fee, player agrees terms, player does medical, player signs contract, paperwork gets lodged.

If the Administrator sells no one or just one player, what happens next? Is it possible that he has a contingency plan?

Where is all this Nugent stuff coming from?

He was recently seen running very fast at Premiership defences, looking very dangerous and then providing an awful finish time after time.
It is therefore logical that he will sign for Palace in a very surprising, last minute, multi-million pound transfer financed by Mark Goldberg....

Or something like that.

And obviously this is official news otherwise it wouldn't be on this thread.

In one sense it would be no players sold. But i assume that's not realistic.

I read we need £4.5m and presumably have got £2.5m from Wigan.
If we got say £1m for Danns and £1m for Ambrose, would that be enough and would that leave us as satisfied as we can be in the circs?

There's a lot of talk about the obvious players leaving, those that will command fees but we mustn't forget the administrators will be trying to run a tighter ship so even those we can't get fees for are up for grabs just to get them off the wage bill. Me too. Clyne will definitely play for England (unless injured). I believe that he will get there before Vic Mo ( if vic Mo evem makes it). Clyne will go for big bucks in a year or so, so I hope we can keep him for the time being.

I have not been as sure about a player making the big time since we had Ashley Cole on loan.

On the Sky transfer board they are saying that Sunderland and Bruce are very keen to sign right back Hutton form Spurs. He cost Spurs £9m and it hasn't worked for him there. I am assuming that for players to be signed by 5pm they are going to have to undertake medicals etc today. If no deals have already been agreed then this will surely make things extremely tight if Danns link to Plymouth and Clynes link to Sunderland are true unless the clubs can arrange for medicals to be done in London rather than by their own club doctors.

it's bonkers really, when you think what is at stake and the amount of money involved - for all clubs - that these things happen in such a rush.

indeed when it was introduced I was in favour transfer window. I thought it might help create a (more) level playing field but it's made no difference whatsoever and quite possibly made things even worse for clubs such as ours.

anyway...

NateEagle

We cant afford to lose Danns...i'd take losing anyone (bar Speroni i guess) over him! Hopefully saints are the only club with a serious interest and he decides dropping a league isnt worth it and the administrators see how important he is to the value of the club!

If we can get 1mill for clyne then i could just about swallow that, though he is one of my faves at the mo, he can be replaced and that money should set us til May.

Chin up, lads. 12 months ago Victor was yet to have an impact on a game, I hadn't heard of Clyne, Danns was a sicknote, Ertl was a mistake, and we hadn't yet signed Ambrose on a free. We were talking about Kuqi having a good game. Everything's relative.

Today is the day that the lance goes into the boil that has grown from our putrid, corporate structure, riddled with debt, leveraged on hot air. Yeah, it's going to hurt, but others will step into the fray, and Warnock has shown that he can inspire loyalty and effort from a team on the back foot.

And on that note ... my head will be firmly in the sand for the next 8 hours.

I expect Clyne to leave today.

I don't want to bad mouth players based on hearsay, but I did speak to one of his schoolmates the other day. He said Clyne is about 2 things only - playing football and getting paid. At the moment he's only doing one of those things.

Yes he's Palace, but if you weren't being paid to do your job, you'd find a new one.

He's a great player, but he's not vital to the team in the same way Danns, Ambrose and Speroni are.

But he is getting paid, albeit late on a couple of occasions.
He still probably earns more in a week than most of us in a month.

Agreed.

In our current predicament I'd rather keep the experience of those players over Clyne. Doing so would also make the club a more attractive proposition for a takeover.

Just now keeping my fingers crossed we sell only one more player (Clyne) and keep the core of the team until a new buyer is found.

Neil Warnock hits out over ‘derisory’ bids for Crystal Palace stars
David Yuill

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock today revealed his disgust with the offers that have been made for his young stars.

All major assets were put up for sale when the administrators were called in to Selhurst Park last week, with striker Victor Moses today joining Wigan for £2.5million.

But Warnock, who saw his side beat Peterborough 2-0 on Saturday, is determined not to lose key members of his squad to derisory bids.

“Some of the offers we have had from clubs for our players have been disgusting, pathetic really,” said Warnock.

“One Premier League club offered £1.5m for Moses and Nathanial Clyne. I hope the administrator is responsible with the offers because I know what I'd do with them.”

Palace host Wolves in tomorrow's FA Cup replay, with Warnock unsure who will still be at the club.

“I'm aware of a couple of derisory offers for other players.”

I don't think they've bought him purely as an investment. They are in a pretty perilous position in the league, & needed to add some talent up front. If Moses delivers they will stay up, & surely lose him within a season & a half. But then that is the reality for Wigan as it is with so many other clubs, but nonetheless they will benefit from staying up & as you say a good profit on the player. But their primary concern will be staying in the Prem, not making a profit.
To be honest I think it's a good move for Victor, if he performs there he'll get his chance for a big move. But more importantly he'll get a chance to play there. I mean a straight choice between Jason Scotland or Victor ?

Big decision for a youngster to turn down a club in the Premiership, even one that's sinking like a stone; doesn't seem to have been about personal terms because he hasn't even talked to them

I think Clyne would be more than happy to move (not a dig at home, he knows the situation) but I think he is hoping someone like Fulham will come in for him.

Fulham have just got Shorey on loan, plus they have defenders coming out their backside.

Didn't see they got Shorey. Good signing for them.

If moves are going to happen they need to start pretty much now after agreeing a fee, traveling, contract terms and medicals that should take it up to 5PM

Yea not bad, Forest must be gutted. Plus they have no left-back now.

I'd really like to 'keep Clyne so I'm happy he turned down Wolves. Good man!

He'll be sold by the end of the day though...

Clyne has missed a trick there, if he really wanted to help the club out, he could have gone to Wolves and scored a few own goals tomorrow night! :clown:

If we believe that Agilo have injected £1million to cover wages for the next few months my take on the situation would be as follows:

The sale of Victor has eased the immediate pressure and they, as secured (if they are?) creditors are now position to wait and see if a buyer materialises between now and the end of the season. They would be be aware that the club does not make as attractive a proposition in League One, however, if a buyer does not materialise, they know they have the longer end of season window to sell off the clubs assets and recoupe their £5-6 million (possibly less if they've received a cut of Victor's sale). This all depends on whether they are secured and given that the sale of the rest of our squad would almost definately raise all that they are owed.

In short, we could have the whole squad intact at 5pm as Agilo know they are in a "no-lose" situation?

Then again, I may be wrong.

As I understand things if the administror does not feel he can keep the club going and debts are likely to increase he can put us into liquidation anytime.
I might be wrong.

You are right but ring fencing the existing debt doesn't stop more debt being incurred now. The rent still has to be paid - staff have to get their wages - everything has to be run on break so he is quite right - money is still needed for rent wages and other bills. If that money isn't there then the administrator cannot continue

I got a mate who works at (always wanted to be able to say that) Fulham and he heard no rumours about Clyne - he saw Shorey at the training ground earlier so knew about that one.

I told him to keep an eye out for Clyne but he doesn't know what he looks like. I've told him he's young and black. My mate has agreed to steal every pen and then start a fire if he sees anyone fitting this description in order to stop him signing.

Should work a treat ... unless he's on his way to Sunderland.

we know money is needed and it is being worked on - Victor Moses sale is not a bad start since administration to bring in 2.5million

The debt is now an unsecured debt there is no way they will get all their money back is will be a certain amount in the pound. so for doing what they did they will be worse off in the long run.................i hope

We shouldnt let Clyne go for peanuts, in my opinion he's up there with players like Moses for raw talent and potential. I would rather sell players like Danns. Who knows what price Clyne will be in 2/3 seasons time.

Would Agilo keep putting money in especially as its ringfenced to keep us afloat til either a buyer is found, or the summer transfer window opens?

I would think that if no one else is sold, a number of the higher paid players and staff could be released to cut costs. It'll also make the club more expensive to buy.

Agreed. In a couple of years Clyne'll be worth £4-5 million if his progress continues. Danns or Ambrose have been around for a long time and will never be worth more than a million or so.

Raw talent and potential, doesn't raise cash in a buyers market I'm afraid.

We might not have a club in 2/3 seasons time :(

:p I like your thinking, good plan.

Oh and loving Clyne giving Wolves the finger, good lad! for some reason I´ve always really particularly hated that crappy club, I used to love watching them repeatedly fail to win promotion, and as far as McCarthy who was rumoured to have offered 1.5 mil for Vic and Clyne stick that up your ******* bollocks you stupid ******* ****. See you tomorrow where I will be praying we dump them out the cup. I would LOVE it if we beat them.

Clyne is now a hero, even if he does go, it'll be the right move for him. Great decision.

If he is here tomorrow and plays he will get a massive cheer from me.
