Predicted this on another thread as I have heard Clyne loves Palace from many of his friends through work several months ago. He could be a key player and I hope no one else comes in.

From what I understand Clyne was in no way one of the youth team players who caught the eye before NW came in and quickly promoted him to the first team. He's a sensible and intelligent young man and knows that the current managerial team know how to get the very best out of him.

this is GREAT NEWS !! the best for a while!!

however, I just wondered what happens to the administrators' need to "find" more cash once the transfer window shuts if no other players are sold?

Hopefully Clyne's decision will confirm other vital players in staying put.
I am glad he is staying but there needs to be a reality check here guys, we need money to keep the club going and if we do not sell someone we could be in serious trouble. I do not want to see anyone who adds value to the team leave but if it helps secure our existance I will take it knowing it is for the greater good of the club.

An England player in the making and the one I feel that we would all be wringing our hands over in the future - unless we get a massive sell on clause - and that won't help us out right now!:(

I was also pleased to see this development, Clyne should not go to Wolves, it would be a silly move for him....

HOWEVER...........

Don't assume this means he's not leaving, I am fully expecting this to mean that he knows Sunderland are in the wings and this could be a late deal if they fail with one or two other targets......

I hope I'm wrong, but we must remember that his agent will be chatting in his ear 24/7 at the moment and this is just as likely to mean a different move rather than no move at all

If we don't sell Clyne the hard fact is that we need to sell several other players, I would temper your enthusiasm for his refusal to move to Wolves.

AJ
01-02-2010, 02:45 PM
He may just want to stay in the South or at least go somewhere where he knows someone (ie Wigan), if he goes today, I expect another London team or even Southampton(which would be a a good career move for him, imo).

Good points, but surely he would have kept his options open - or at least his agent would have - and been non-committal to Wolves?

Great news...tinged with fear. Fear that we will have to make significant cuts elsewhere to satisfy the administrator. I wouldn't want to Academy broken up: this is the future of the club wherever we end up. The return on Moses alone clearly justifies the investment Jordan made into the Academy.

Let's face it, we have been and always will be (barring miracles) a selling club. It's important we acknowledge this but continue to move forward.

Anyway, bollocks to that!

Heard Wolves put in bids for 4 Palace players
- Moses
- Clyne
- Ambrose
but don't know the 4th. Anybody know? If you had guesses on the size of the Ambrose bid then you are all to high. They are a bunch of jokers and I am looking forward to tomorrow night.

Well done to all of the players for not leaving.

So, in terms of players leaving - it's only Moses?

Not bad, considering though I worry about the financial implications now.

Nathaniel is too much of a home boy to go anywhere at the moment, he still lives with Mum in Stockwell. She told me at the end of last season, he loves it at Palace and would miss his mates if he moves out of London, this was just before we all heard he had signed a new contract.

No doubt he will go eventualy.

Since they, whoever they are *cough*, brought him up Palace I dare say they wouldn't judge too harshly for a correctly using a swearword in the manner they should be used: not as a stream of filth robbing them of their power, but correctly and sparing applied to those who deserve to be reviled.

Wolves are bastards. So much so I think we should even print that on t-shirts for tomorrow night.

you cant really blame clyne, even if it turns out to be detrimental to the club, he's only an 18year old kid, he probably still lives at home and will have friends/gf here,

A move to another part of the country needs a bit of thought, you cant decide on a move like that in half a day

So we missed out on 500k which may be vital to our survival...however had Clyne left, Butterfield probably would have played at right back tonight, he wouldn't have scored a hatrick and we wouldn't have made the 5th round which will pocket us 500k.
So Clyne has already earned us 500k
:p :p :p

WE'VE GOT NATHANIEL CLYNE, WE'VE GOT NATHANIEL CLYNE :lux: :lux: :lux:

Or......."Nathaniel Clyne is all mine all mine, Nathaniel Clyne is all mine"

Alright, it sounds a bit stalky, but at least it scans.:)

You have to say the spirit in the squad must be great. Not many players would turn down a move to the Prem

On last night's showing, I'd say right back was the least of Wolves' worries.

Mancienne was shite & there new striker Mujangi was shockingly poorMancienne looked much better when he played at the back for QPR/Wolves. Not sure he is cut out for midfield.

Who knows how accurate this is but saw this quote on Leicester's fans site Foxes Talk following their match with us.

"There was a Newcastle scout at the match last night, we had a good chat with him on the tube (which was held up for ages due to a fire at Green Park grr).

He was having a look at Palace's right back Clyne. Asked him about our players and he wasn't particularly impressed, not one good enough for the premiership he thought."

Probably not a surprise, I am sure there must be loads of scouts looking at him each week.
