I would love to think he is staying though.

Football is a fickle beast. If Julian Speroni leaves, then it will be a pity but we will find another. Ambrose likewise. Will miss him, but we will unearth another player of similar quality. We are Palace, super Palace.:lux:

Heard a rumour that Julian Speroni had gone back to Argentina for 3 weeks and couldn't be reached there (don't understand why) and that this meant he wouldn't be transfered until then.

This sounds to me like complete and absolute rubbish and I have no idea where it came from but I am choosing to believe it nonetheless. Then maybe, just maybe CPFC2010 could come in before that and convince him to stay.

Almost 100% bollocks but I have to believe it :D

He said himself that he was going back to Argentina for a break, I think at the POTY do. He has also said he has no wish to move, that he'd be happy to end his career at Palace (unnecessary if he was just putting up a smokescreen) and knows nothing of a move but if the club tell him they want him to go that would be a different matter. Can't see JS as a straight out liar so, personally, I think that is the case. If he was on his way because the club need him to go I think he'd say so - nobody would be surprised or think the worse of him. No evidence, just seems too straight a guy to make all this up.

You are right. I think that Warnock rates Kenny above Julian , just. He wouldn't bid for Kenny if he didn't think he could get him and as he has the cash and Kenny needs a new start it will happen I think.
Julain doen't want to go. That said if a prem side, a proper prem side that is ( Not West Ham) then he would be tempted.

Skysports.com understands West Ham and Fulham have entered the race for in-demand Crystal Palace keeper Julian Speroni.

The Argentinean is already a target for Queens Park Rangers, where former Eagles boss Neil Warnock is thought to be eager to bring him in.

Last week, Speroni refused to rule out a move to Loftus Road amid reported interest but attention from the Premier League may also appeal to the former Dundee stopper.

Having won Palace's Player of the Year for the past three seasons, Speroni could expect to displace 36-year-old Radek Cerny as Rangers' first choice.

However, the 31-year-old would face competition from England international Robert Green and Australia international Mark Schwarzer of West Ham and Fulham respectively should their interest materialise.

With the club finishing the season in administration, Palace's financial difficulties may leave them no choice but to sell their shot-stopper, who has made 171 appearances for the club.

Not having a go at you cpfcfan1 but:

"Skysports.com understands West Ham and Fulham have entered the race for in-demand Crystal Palace keeper Julian Speroni."

followed by...

"However, the 31-year-old would face competition from England international Robert Green and Australia international Mark Schwarzer of West Ham and Fulham respectively should their interest materialise."

strikes me as if they're making up the story (hopefully they did the same with the Paddy McCarthy story).

Warnock in the Advertiser:

"I spoke to Julian [Speroni] early doors but that's on the back burner at the moment as he is out of the country. I think he's probably holding out for a Premier League club anyway."

QPR definitely interested, then. This makes me sad. They can have anyone they like... except Jules. :(

To be honest I don' think it makes any difference who needs a 'keeper, CPFC 2010 have said they want to keep Speroni, Speroni has said he wants to stay. Okay, there is always the bid that is too good to turn down, but failing that he'll be here next season I'm confident.

i sincerely think that the managers in the premier league are too daft and set in thier ways to ever consider jules. given my australian heritage, i love schwarzer and think he's hugely underrated, and at 37 folks are just starting to wake up to this, but jules is something else beyond schwarzer. and the daft pricks in the premier league and argentina won't consider him for another 4 years. it's too risky for these twats to pick anyone but the james' and greens'. as if they would ever trust a south american keeper, suits me fine though.

So? Has already been said by Steve P that there is no need to cut the wage bill so unless the new manager has a better keeper up his sleeve why would they force him to leave?

Of course it will be considered, but if there is no need to cut the wage bill, the player has no wish to leave and there isn't an equal or better replacement that could be signed for the money and on less wages, why would the offer be accepted? There is an offer "too good to refuse" for every player, but I would expect Speroni to stay from all that has been said by both sides.

GEORGE Burley insists Palace fans favourite Julian Speroni is going nowhere.

The Eagles have been linked with a move for former Ipswich, Arsenal and Everton stopper Richard Wright but Burley has firmly ruled that out.

He insists that Speroni will be his number one next season and that he is only looking for a keeper to come in as the Argentinian's understudy.

"I haven't spoken to Richard," said Burley. "We're only looking for a number two and I don't think he would be interested in coming as number two.

"Julian Speroni is very much a Crystal Palace player. I know there has been speculation about a possible transfer but I haven't heard anything."

I'm not sure if we should just stick to where we ended up last season. Stick with Jules and Charlie. Should Jules get carded or injured then Mann can come on.

If he gets injured during the week or is suspended we can always find an emergency loaner. Plenty of 3rd choice prem keepers we could get for a loan fee if required. Without the worries of an embargo on us this should be easily sorted.

Steve Parish said we are going to offer him a new contract :)

I know, when I asked him that question I didn't actually expect an answer, fair play to him. Great news, will be interesting if they tell us when they have offered one or just wait until he signs? Any news on those offered contracts a few months back?

'We will talk with him'.

Is completely different to

'We are going to offer him a new contract'.

I think it means that they will be speaking to him about his future.

In response to the question 'Are you going to offer Julian a new contract?'

I would definitely think that the only thing Parish is implying is that they are going to offer Jules a new contract.

Alternatively, Parish may be 'implying' that they will be talking to him.

Talking to him about a contract.

Talking to him about a contract.
Perhaps, but even so, that is a completely seperate entity to 'we will be offering him a contract'.

They could just be talking about gardening.

argumentative thread..............

Just hope whatever happens, we sign Jules for another 2 yrs, and he can persuade Hugo Colace to join him at palace

Jules will probably want (and would deserve) a release clause for when a Prem/La Liga club come in for him - triggered by a fair offer of X £million.

Well done, we have worked out that part.

What do you think Steve wants to talk to him about?

Steve said "We will talk to him." In response to my question of "Will Speroni be offered a new contract?" Therefore, he will be talking to him about a new contract, before offering him one.

Even if in these contract talks Jules says he wants to leave, Parish will still offer him a new contract just in case nobody comes in for him.

Probably just chaventry trying to deflect some interest in their 'keeper. Who throughout the link with Celtic has not been very very quiet!

Again this talk is unsettling and a million insulting when you consider we paid half of that for Flinders....

For whom is it unsettling? Speroni has said (repeatedly) he has no desire to move, Burley has said (repeatedly) Speroni will be no 1 next season, Steve Parish / 2010 has said (repeatedly) that GB has no need to sell anybody they don't want to sell. Celtic can want all they like.

Westwood didn't play on Saturday in the 0-0 draw at Hinckley either, with Hoofroyd giving former Man City keeper Kevin Stuhr Ellegard a game as a trialist.

I reckon Westwood is offski, personally.
