Disappointing - yet another 500k minimum the new owners would have to spend should they buy the club. Makes all this haggling seem so pointless.

Or another several thousand off the wage bill they would have needed to cut...

Two sides to a coin.

Well as of last Monday Derry hadn't received any serious offers from England so I doubt everything is set in stone yet.

Capello hasn't named his team yet. There's still time ;)

Yes agreed that is the problem we can't continue to pay the high wages that have got us into this mess in the 1st place.

Shaun will be missed for his leadership if he is going but he must be on big wages.

Fingers crossed the takeover goes through. What we should be looking to do after is buy young hungry players up and coming from the lower leagues on low wages together with bringing through talent from the academy. We would need to mix these in with a few old heads who are proven to still have a hunger to play i.e. the likes of Clint Hill types rather than has been Premiership players who are on the way down just happy to pick up high wages at the end of their career.

Can't put too many in the mercenary bracket though last year but we can't pay high wages over 10k a week to the likes of Stern John/Shefki Kuqi etc.

The club needs to get on an even keel and live within it's means.

I think it's best if Derry goes now and leaves the club on a high note.

Whilst he was instrumental against Wednesday, his form after Christmas wasn't the best and I would much rather remember our captain of this season fondly then have him underperform for a season and then go (a bit like Michael Hughes did).

Edit - on the provision the take over goes ahead etc etc.

Or the guy who rents the house just reads the papers like the rest of us and hasn't actually got a clue....

My plumber reckons we're about to sign De La Torre Gabri so I reckon it's true.

Well done Mr Derry, but if you want to cut the wage bill I'd rather he went and we kept the likes of speroni, danns and ambrose.

We'd still have Ertl and N'diaye however losing both our captain and vice captain would be a blow, McCarthy to be our next captain?

N'diaye will be an excellent and as a player is probably better. However the loss of such a great role model will be a blow (Despite not having the best of seasons) his effort and passion hugely helped our club survive. He deserves to play for a team with stability behind the scenes to see his career.

Derrys personality is worth more to the team then the way he plays tbh, not always great on the day but is a great morale booster

Will be sorely missed

Blimey! Would anyone actually consider going to Greece in these times to work?

This is true. The two Palace sides he's played in have had great team and fighting spirit.

Or the house is a bit to expensive, Derry is going to stay at Palace & play for much less...so is going to rent somewhere cheaper! :p

If Derry does go (I'll be sorry if he does), Speroni for captain?

Not vocal enough. Doesn't have the presence.

I spoke to the bloke that runs the petshop at the end of our road, and he tells me he doesn't know anything about any Palace players. Surely that must mean he knows something.

I'll keep you all posted. Unless I decide to go out into the sunshine instead.
