There are plenty of variations of this story on the wires today

Crystal Palace denied they are under pressure to cut costs after Wayne Carlisle became the sixth player in a week to be released by the club.

The Eagles midfielder joined youngsters Jonathon Boardman, Kristian Dimond, Gareth Gwillum, Andrew Martin and Steven Warren in leaving Selhurst Park.

Manager Trevor Francis has spent over 3million strengthening a large squad.

And striker Clinton Morrison was the first big name linked with a transfer last week if Palace fail to win promotion this season.

But assistant coach Steve Kember said: "The club is not under pressure to sell.

"We are clearing the decks of those players who aren't close to the first team and they were all released under the same guidelines. They do clog up the system for the promising youngsters coming through."

doom ???? no
it is inevitable that our good players will go if we dont go up - sad but true not doom mongers but reality!!!

Youth players dont concern me that much as if they were good enough they would be playing and we must trust the management to make decisions whether they will make it or not
its the high profile players leaving that worries me!!!!
