What with the influx of Polish people in the area, would it not be a good idea to buy one or two decent ones? Would probably add a good 1,000 to the crowd to help pay for it.

Unfortunately, I dont know anything about Polish football...anyone?

Maybe they miss their families and friends?

That Polish player who I think was on loan at Forest looked a cracking little player.

Maybe they miss their families and friends?they should live in Norbury then, they would feel at home.

I think it was Burley who brought both Rasiak and Saganowski to England so we might see Polish players at our club after all.

Not sure how successful they have been

Would it add 1,000 to the gate? I'd be very surprised.
A lot of Poles send money home and many aren't on much in the first place.
Attendances in Poland aren't high either.

I don't think Soton's gates dropped when Bialkowski didn't claim No1 spot, Saganowski and Rasziak went; so don't see how signing a Pole (unless a celebrated one) would help gates? Saints are a good example as they have a massive Polish community.

They do produce some good players of value however, as mentioned the Soton ones above are/were more than able at this level. Look at the success of Matejovski at Forest, and the untapped talent of Pawel Abbot!

While we're here, we should be signing this young man: Ariel Borysiuk.

Regarding wages at Soton, Saga was getting over 10k p/w fact!

Also, think of the added benefit to the Volunteer Army. :)

I cant help notice that the Cherries and Portmanor have a big Polish influence. I dont know about the Southampton Polish community but is it really that big? It's fair to say I dont know enough about it but it does sound like it has potential.

Southampton's Polish Community was/is 30,000. Thats massive bearing in mind the population of southampton is only about 200,000.

Funny enough, the Polish community have always been strong in the area since the war. When I was a nipper there were Polish Comunity centres in Norwood, Balham, Putney, Brockley and other places in South London within the sphere of Palace influence. I used to go to the Polish school on Oliver Grove (opposite the Police Station) on Saturdays and then a mob of us Anglo-Poles used to go down to Palace game after. They`re all like me still Palace fans and season ticket holders.
Buying a few Poles would`t add that much to the gate though. Suppose its like any community. Have we targeted the African, Carribean communities as well in the same proposed way just because of a couple of signings.
I remember the hype when Vegetables bought the two Chinese lads. Rumours that we were the biggest club on the planet due to the entire Chinese population now supporting us were rife!

Any half decent Polish players go and play in Germany, and then for Germany.

Wasn't one of the reasons for Steve Bruce's flounce that he wanted to sign players like Arkadiusz Bak? He did get him for Birmingham but he didn't last there long.
