Do you mean

a) If Palace ceased to exist, whom would you then support?

or

b) If Palace had never existed in the first place, whom would you have supported originally?

?

06-04-2002, 03:29 AM
Probally Wimbledon, I live quite near and have been to quite a few games and go to the reserves reguarly.

Whitley Bay, (Northern League) cos I live there, or if we're talking League clubs, Carlisle United as I used to live there.

Well i think most people had to think about this a few seasons back, for us it would be either Carlisle or Preston.

If there never was a CPFC I would have ended up a Chelsea supporter as my whole family support them and my uncles and father used to go to every match. If Palace stopped all existance I don't think I could support another club but I have always had a soft spot for Orient.

Probably Brentford. But possibly Spurs cos my Grandad supported them and took my dad to see his first ever game betweeen Spurs and Palace. Of course, my dad had more sence and the rest is history.

Probably Wimbledon, they're the only other club in South London. :D

Or Q.P.R. as they are almost as unpredictable as us.

if i had to choose right now, id say Brentford as my sister's ex plays for them, but if Palace never existed and i had to choose when i was ickle, id say my home town team.....Cambridge Utd.

Palace
06-04-2002, 09:07 PM
Spurs because my dad supported them as a kid, and they are my second team.

or

Wimbledon because is used to go to see them a bit when i was younger. :sob:  :(

Rather strangely, Borussia Dortmund, but have been following them "alongside" Palace since 1981 anyway. Luckily there's no chance of them playing each other & I can only afford to get to Germany once or twice a season anyway. If Palace went bust, I guess all the money I saved on going to most games would allow me one trip a month. Hmmmm...tempting after the last few months.

If it happened now then I'd probably support Brentford because the chairman's ex-Palace, the manager's ex-Palace and half their ruddy squad is ex-Palace!

Spurs. And I hate Arsenal and Chelsea so it's very appropriate.

Probably Spurs as everyone at school supported them around the time I started following Palace c1980.

If Palace never existed, I would be a Charlton fan, as my Dad wouldn't have chosen Palace over them when he used to watch both.

If Palace went bust; probably Rochdale.

If Palace didn't exist, I'd have to support England full-time.

El Aguila

I would support Barcelona, in fact I do, kind of. But living in Madrid now, I guess the time will come, if my children like football, where I have to choose between Atlético Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
If Palace had never existed I expect I would have supported Charlton Athletic.

For some reason as a kid I supported Everton but my second team now is Southampton.

I reckon I would spend all my energies on following England if Palace went under though.

I'd probably do the same, as i live in Colston Avenue. Certainly wouldn't support a ready made big team. If it were a league club, I'd look for a place where you could still stand on the terraces.

Up till I was 4 my grandfather convinced me that I supported Chelsea but one fruitful visit to Croydon market(and some good salesmanship) 2 palace shirts(the old don rogers styli) were sold to my mother to be proudly worn by her sons!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I would support Margate FC if there were no CPFC.

I only started following football in '95, then I chose Palace over Forest because Palace beat them in the cup, that year Palace were relegated. so I continued to suport Palace in division 1 and kept an eye on Forest. Not too many years later later Forest were relegated, so my premiership club became Sheffield Wednesday who I'd kind of liked back before I watched football when Palace and Forest were both in division 1. They got relegated.
Out of desperation I decided to follow Coventry, the team that never went down, they could be bottom of the table at Christmas and the Gods would step in to prevent their relegation, they got relegated.
It may be of interest to some of you that I now follow Spurs as my Premiership side.
