Crystal Palace are one of a number of clubs tracking Wolves' out-of-contract midfielder Carl Robinson who is set to quit Molineux this summer.
The Wales international comes to the end of his current Wolves deal, and The Eagles are keen on the midfielder schemer, having confirmed an interest.
However, Trevor Francis is likely to face a real battle for his services as Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, and Watford have all declared an interest in Robinson, who is Wolves' longest-serving player, while Preston recently denied offering 2million for his services.
The 25-year-old, who ended his season with a knee injury, is keen to play regular first-team football after losing his place at Molineux and with Francis keen to bolster his side Robinson has emerged as his first real summer target.

Who is he? Anyone know anything about him. I know its Teamguff but I'd still like to know a little info.

Pro at Wolves 7 seasons, 159 starts plus 40 sub apps, 23 goals. This season 16 starts (plus 8 subs), 2 goals. Fairly anonymous player in the scheme of things - I can't remember him doing anything special, but I may be wrong.

Jordan said he could have the money for a midfielder.

To be honest - as long as we get a few on frees i dont mind - we always seem to buy players when frees are perfectly good - go get him

What?

I'd rather get his mum, Anne then she could say to TF

"You are the Weakest Link, GOODBYE"

Wolves supporting mate of mine rates him fairly highly. From memory he's quite combative, reasonably quick & can therefore cause problems running at players. Major problem is that he's another injury prone player - a real 6 games in, 10 games out job. Useful squad player though.

I think he would be a decent buy. Definately a better all round player than Jolly and also a Welsh international.

Very good first division player!

Don't think so - get rid of deadwood and bring in better players. Probably end up with fewer, but we do have a LOT of deadwood with squad numbers.

What was his squad number last season?

I think it was 4 or 8 but I am not entirely sure and that is probably wrong!

I ask because when we played them at Molenieux in October I remember being very impressed by their number 4. At the time I thought we were going up and thought that he should be one of the players we should try to sign once in the Premiership.

He was the No.4. Just spoken to Wolves mate again who warned us that as he's getting older his pace seems to be decreasing. Scores the occasional cracker though, so I'm told. So there you have it. Slow, combative, with 2 scorching goals per season. Should fit into our midfield a treat!

The Guardian is reporting that Robinson is due to sign for Portsmouth shortly.

Portsmouth still want to sign Wolves' Carl Robinson despite the problems with his medical over the weekend.

Manager Harry Redknapp was expected to unveil the 25-year-old midfielder as his seventh summer signing.

But the deal hit a snag when Robinson underwent a medical at Fratton Park.

The problem is not thought to be serious, and Robinson should become a Portsmouth player in the next couple of days.

A Portsmouth spokesman said: "It's not true to say he failed a medical there were problems with the medical.

"But the move is still on and Harry is still optimistic it has just been delayed and not cancelled."

Despite our midfield shortages, I'm not at all upset about this development.
