Have heard that we are running the rule over a few of their players, should their predictment become critical.

Names mentioned include Shipperly :), Ardley :D and ... wait for it...

Andy Roberts  :clown:

What?

I thought we were talking about the tennis for a second!

Did this story originate becasue members of the Crystal Palace staff were seen in and around selhurst park?

Can't understand why we've never cast a closer eye on some of the young Wimbledon players before now Neil

Thanks for that Neil.

I think Ardley would be a great signing, whipping over the corners etc.

As for Ships, one of my favourite Palace players. I still remember that run when he scored in about 8 games running including the West Ham floodlight failure. :)

I'm probably the only person on these boards who liked Andy Roberts. I thought he was excellent in his first season, and had great vision and passing skills. No pace, but that need not matter in a mifield passing role. I know that no-one will agree, but that's the joy of football.

I liked Roberts. He always seems to boss the midfeild when we play them.

I thought that Roberts was a class act in the first division but a big disappointment when we were in the Premier.

Well Andy Roberts is on the Bosman list........... Is he better than Rodger though.

If we can negotiate his salary I would give him a go on a free, how old his he 28?

Wouldn't touch Roberts with a barge pole. He recently had an un-spectacular loan spell at Norwich and has become as anonymous a player as you could get !

Time to move on to new players (unless we're talking Jansen, Shipps or Moore of course :) )

other clubs came and stole players off us in the last 3 years - lets go and get a few - shipps, ardley, roberts on free and there must be others lets go and get them!!!!!!!!!!!

So if we get Owusu (as mentioned on another thread) and Shipps we'll have 5 strikers. I reckon that this would mean that Clinton is on his way to another club.

Typical Palace ....

Never mind the younger players like Morgan, Agyemang, Francis or Willmot - let's look at all the older ones .... :hmph:

What about Holloway ?

Daddy Long
16-05-2002, 05:01 PM
Agreed. Holloway looked excellent whenever I have seen him.

And Wimbledon have a whole host of good youngsters to pick from....I don't know why we would be interested in their ageng journeymen.

Because we have a manager who has a history of buying them

yardly - another TF player - mid table solid - but how much better than Jolly with fairly high wages - young Patrick A is a better bet with the potential to improve.
TF is turning us into old style Brum - TF lets have a little more imagination with some new ideas please.

I say we have it about right. Get one or two in on loan and maybe buy if they impress. Money in the game is very tight so lets not push our luck hoping for this player or that player.

We should be grateful for the business we have managed to do with the Clinton money. Certainly should continue to not agree paying excessive sums to players who other clubs are keen to offload. Especially when the calibre of Simon Rodger has been let go.

Lets keep our heads now, we got some great deals and lets stick.

I know someone who was let go by Wimbledon and has had approaches from two clubs, Exeter and Hillingdon Borough and by one unnamed club.

He was not a bad centre half but is very injury prone.Iam surprised Trevor has not signed him yet.;)

Train here i come.

A very good friend of our family, who is an ex palace player, is out of contract and yet to find a club and agree acceptable terms, its a sad situation for some players.
