Reigning champions France have been rocked by the news that Thierry Henry is doubful for the World Cup finals.

The Arsenal striker missed Les Blues friendly win over Urawa Reds with a knee injury and coach Roger Lemerre has given him until Sunday to prove his fitness.

Henry has been dogged by ligament trouble since he joined up with the France squad and is rated extremely doubtful for the opening match of the finals, against Group A opponents Senegal on May 31.

Lemerre said: "Thierry Henry was not able to resume playing today and this is important news.

"We are going to do some more tests on Sunday and, depending on the results, we will do what is necessary."

Should Henry be ruled out, Manchester City target Nicolas Anelka is the likely replacement having been left out of Lemerre's 23-man squad for Korea/Japan.

Your Djorkaeff netted a hat-trick in the 5-1 drubbing of Urawa Reds, with Djibril Cisse and Johan Micoud completing the rout.

This is massive news, perhaps its a psychological ploy though.
