Jelavic seemed to be doing quite well at Everton until the goals mysteriously dried up. There's no doubt he's a good player but we already have one striker in Marouane Chamakh who's lacking confidence so can we afford to accommodate another?

I doubt we'll have much hope of signing anybody of any real quality unless we have moved up the table by January.

Jelavic hypohetically yes, Diarra definitely should be avoided.

Jelavic will be our version of Danny Graham no thanks

Would Danny Graham not improve our squad, then?

Jelavic could be interesting.

Diarra would be a massive no. An approach by us in January is likely to cause him an injury.

High earners. Getting towards the end of their careers. Just what we need.

To be fair to Jelevaic he did look really good for a bit then kind of got sussed out. Too similar to Chamakh.

Please no more strikers lacking confidence, it is clear we ain't the best of the confidence boosters.

Diarra is too injury prone which is why he is a free agent.

Here we go again. Reminds me of when we signed Chamakh, hes played in the champions league dont you know. Jerome once cost 4m+. Campana played for Seville etc...they must be good signings for us.

Ask QPR what they think of signing players based on the amount of international caps or who they once played for.....

Jelavic is a decent player and finisher, not sure why his form has gone out the window but would add something to the squad

Diarra has looked quality in the past, injuries may have taken their toll

Let's be honest in the January window we're gonna have to take a chance on certain unfancied players (yes finances permitting), no one will sell key players at this point.

Would love jelavic, he might work well with chamakh. We dont need any more midfielders though, unless its an attacking one in zaha. We have plenty of quality midfielders in bannan, williams, campana, jedinak etc already. Hopefully they wont all be suffering with neckache in the coming months.

I'd be pleased with Jelavic. Diarra hasn't put together a decent string of games in 5 years and is 32. Hard to imagine it being a good move

I'd be over the moon with Jelavic, top player. He just needs a run of games and playing under a manager who can get the best out him. Can't say I know too much about Diarra, there's about 3 off the top of my head playing.

I wouldn't mind Reus, Modric and Di Maria.

He's a walking injury. His total of around 40 games in the last 5 seasons gives you a slight indication as to why people might be against it?!!

He was class when he was at Lyon alongside Essien and had a couple of good seasons at Madrid but he is way past it and not the sort of player we should be looking to sign.

I love the way that whenever we are linked with far better players than we have people pooh pooh the idea.

Its not that. Its whether they will be good signings for us or not. Will Diarra at 32, on a big wage, plays a position we dont really need, massive injury problems really be a good signing for us?

On the same note will Jelavic really be any better than Chamkh. In theory Chamakh was going to be banging them in for us because he played for Morocco and Arsenal.

Diarra is utter tosh no thanks.
We already have KG who's the most immobile person in the world.

Chamakh needs a strike partner, I think we cant expect Gayle to be much more than an impact sub against tiring defences, the one thing etherington would provide is decent crosses, so jelavic and chamakh would be quite exciting to watch up front then. At the moment i dont think the players behind chamakh really suit his game, he is great in the air but we never get round the back; the only headers he gets are long ball hoofs which atm he's supposed to control, turn, and fire into the top corner by himself.

That might upset a few Garvan haters... ;)

On 40k a week Diarra might be a bad option.

Pay as you play could be good though.

Jelavic was absolutely on fire when he first joined Everton. That period, and his record at Rangers, show he's got something about him but, like Chamakh, he is obviously very low on confidence in front of goal right now.

He's only 28 - has a fair few good years in him yet. On sensible wages/for a sensible fee, would provide far better competition up front than we currently have.

Still, if affordable, I'd prefer Rhodes though.

How does being injury prone automatically make someone s**t? Mahamadou Diarra is a good f**king player, a lot better than what we have. I'd give him a pay as you play offer.

The Jelevic of early last season would be better than Chamakh. But who knows if he could ever return to that form. Plus he is the only backup for Lukaku now that Kione is injured so Martinez isn't sending him anywhere.
