According to todays Daily Express there is only one First Division club who have spent more than 200k on a player during the close season.

but there also aren't too many who ave sold a player for 3.5m either. In terms of net spend/transfer income we do pretty well.

Hayden Foxe cost Portsmouth 400,000. I know it was technically a part swop deal but the highest quoted transfer fee paid by a Nationwide team was Andy Johnson for 750,000.

In comparison to other clubs, but it's still "strange accounting" ;)

If you search through the completed transfers below only the the two Sheffields & Pompey are the teams to really make any signings. And they have been on the cheap.

After viewing this thread I started to wonder if we had spent more on transfer fees than the rest of the first division clubs or maybe even the entire football league put together? Can someone confirm this??

As I see it, we have spent on Johnson (750k), Derry (600k), Butterfield (400k) and Powell (400k), which totals 2.15 Million

I cannot think of many transfers involving fees, with exception of the ones to our club. It would be interesting to know if this was the case, just for general trivia and bragging about our club purposes :)

According to the telegraph yesterday only Palace and Portsmouth have spent any money.

On a completely irrelevant note is Ravinelli still at Derby? :clown:

What?

Ravanelli has played for two clubs that have been subsequently relegated. Not that we could afford his wages, but I dont fancy the hatrick ball.

Maybe not, other clubs could have got just as good a player but for free!

I.e. Wolves

what it prolly means is that we are more financially secure than other clubs who are reluctant to spend money following the ITV deal!

But hey who cares COME ON THE PALACE
