HAMMERS HANDED A MONTH TO SEAL DI CANIO DEAL

Paolo Di Canio will start looking for a new club next month unless the striker is told he is still wanted at West Ham, according to his agent.

Moreno Roggi said he had spoken with West Ham managing director Paul Aldridge this week and set a deadline for the Hammers to decide whether they want to offer the Italian an extension to his current contract, which runs out next summer.

"He (Aldridge) told me he wasn't sure if West Ham wanted to keep him on after this season. He said he would check with his manager," said Roggi.

"It is no secret Paolo wants to stay at West Ham and finish his career there. He loves the club. In fact, he would be interested in seeing if there could be some role for him at the club after he retires.

"So I told Aldridge they had until the end of October to decide if they wanted to talk to us about a new deal or not.

"He (Paolo) wants to play somewhere and if West Ham aren't willing to discuss a contract extension then he has no choice but to look elsewhere."

There are quite a few "pure class" players out there - and we can't afford them either!

SJ is quite rightly trying to bring the wage bill under control. A signing like this would be the last nail in our financial coffin, no matter how reasonable our position is now.

I would think that if he goes any where he will go to portsmouth and join up with Redknapp, chances are they will be in the premiership next season anyway.

There's more chance of Holly Valance starring in animal porn than there is of DiCanio coming to Palace!

One would entertain you for 90 mins leaving you open mouthed and staring in disbelief at the tricks on show - and then there is Paolo!
