Just read this on the BBC website:

An informed source that works at Selhurst Park told me Crystal Palace are to sign Patrick Berger from Liverpool in January.
Tom Buckley, UK

Who's Tom Buckley? He's the man that left this rumour on the site?

Not me.

I'm happy for us to sign him if it means we get the legendary 'Patrick Burger' on the menu at Palace.

This is quite possibly the most ridiculous Palace-related rumour I have ever heard. Actually not quite as ridiculous as the one saying we were going to get Shearer in as player-coach but ridiculous nonetheless.

But if its true  :D

It would be a miracle if anyone got a berger up Palace judging by my usual attempts at half time.:)

This is geting silly, why wont people understand that we are in no position to sign new players, and certainly not expensive Premier castoffs.

As my mother would say, what are we going to pay him with, shirtbuttons?

Bobby Woodruff

Thinking about it, since Palace are in no position to sign new players wouldn't it be a good idea to close the Transfer Hotline forum so we don't get these silly threads.

Thing is, the transfer hotline isn't just about players joining, it's about players leaving as well.:p

Also, has it not occurred to anyone that Simon Jordan's cost cutting talk is also designed to scaremonger lazy arse players to get their act together or they will be out when their contracts expire?

The trouble with the bottom now falling out in football means that the control has now gone from the players and agents to the Board of Directors of clubs and when was the last time you hears a board speak the truth??:grrr:

Haven't any of you worked for companies when the high flying bosses tell you it's been a bad year so they can't give you a maximum bonus or pay rise and then drive off in their new Ferrari? Their all lying c.unts each and every one of them.:grrr:

And Jordan is no different at all.;)

Never take anything Dave says seriously.

Unless it's "get off this BBS or I'll send James round", in which case you'd better not be Simon Jordan...

Just to show how seriously people take this gossip board

Scunthorpe United to make a bid to sign Darren Anderton on loan for the rest of the season to cover injury situation.
Philip Dubois, Scunthorpe

I've heard a rumour that West Ham are set to sign one (yes, one) player on loan in January, to help score bags of goals, improve their leaking defence and improve their distribution from midfield, thus saving them from relegation.
Apparently chairman Brown is already in talks with Roy of the Rovers. The main stumbling block could be the fact that the West Ham board are unwilling to release the funds as they have just spent 4m (yes, 4m) on a museum at Upton Park...that's our board, always looking to the future!
Ben, England

My cousin who's works in the finance department at Highbury says Phil Neville and the rest of the Utd B-team are on Arsenal's shopping list.
Kim, England

I heard a whisper from a reputable source that Sunderland are going to win a game in the New Year - personally, I don't believe it. Up the Mags!
Big Bad John, England

Crystal Palace striker Julian Gray (striker?) has become a target for West Ham boss Glenn Roeder to help save his ailing side. (what a joke)
Also look out for Charlton midfielder Scott Parker to be sold on to Everton for 3.5m.
Paul, Southend, England

Arsenal are signing Ade Akinbyi for 15m.
John, UK

Quite apart from anything else, I remember reading just the other day that he is going to be out for months with an injury (very surprising I thought  ).

If people are going to start stupid rumours, they could at least do a little bit of research first?

I think we should make Berger king of our midfield

Riccardo
13-12-2002, 07:46 PM
Berger King of the Palace...just imagine.

Personally, I reckon he'd run rings around the opposition team. I heard there was an Arab shiek who runs a large Yemanese milk company interested in financing the deal.

markholmes1991

he would dice opposing defences like an iceburg, with his a-mayonnaise-ing runs penetrating right down the middle, and would satisfy even the toughest holmesdale crowd.
