old, but still a touch of class, a bit like Mers, in the fact that he seems to star man, in two out of every three games

Never been a fan of Johnson. Looks a capable player but doesn't produce on a consistent basis. I think very much a "confidence player"

We need more strength in midfield, Quashie of Pompey comes to mind, as does Izzett, Merson is too old, surely ?.

David Prutton of Forest.
Excellent prospect, we need midfielders, and he'll last about 13 seasons longer than Merson.

Merson, you're having a laugh! He's mentioned on reputation only. On boxing day he was anonymous, despite scoring. One Pompey fan said that in the second half Merson still being on the field was like giving us a twelth man. They aren't top because of Merson, it's because they have some extrememly good players such as Taylor.

My vote goes for Tonge! He'll make anyone millions!

I've always rated Matt Holland, very much underrated and capable of scoring his fair share from the midfield. Hasn’t he played 120+ consecutive games?

Another player who flatters to deceive. Has plenty of ability but often depends on whether he can be bother to “turn up” A player who struggled to establish himself in the prem, but looks at home in the first.

I'd go for Matt Taylor aswell...I'd even go as far as to say that Taylor is a far more important player to Portsmouth than Merson.

If not Taylor, I'd probably nick Steve Stone from Portsmouth instead.

You know, I was going through all the teams but had forgotten Wolves. Thinking about it theres noone I'd like apart from Lescott, obviously. We've got better than Rae, Cameron, Newton, Blake, Sturridge etc, Kennedy is too injury prone.

Then there are lots of good players that I left out simply because I think our team is so good.

Dawson is by far and away the best prospect in this division. He will playy for Engalnd one day.

Now I was thinking about matt holland muzzy izzet but I'll go for quashie he has a good range of passing and seems like he gets in the tackle as well.

Forest is the one home match I've missed this season, and I haven't caught them on the telly- what is Dawson like, what position etc.

I actually wouldn't mind Zamora as I do think he is a class player - it is just unfortunate for him that he is playing for a really poor team.. :D However I do not believe we need another striker so I would go for Merson. Okay he did not play that well against us but he has had some rave reviews this season. If blowing hot and cold is a crime then why does everyone say we need to play someone in midfield with Hayden - who is the worst one in our team for having his off days... All we would want is Merson for a couple of seasons to get us up to the Premiership and then help us establish ourselves there..

There's no one better than Dougie, Hayden or Tony Popovic and no better prospect than Wayne Routledge. Having said that a really good midfield partner for Mullins would be good and Mat Holland would get into any first division team.

Matt Hollland and Steven Reid. With two quality Midfielders we'd have the strongest midfield in the division to go with by FAR the best defence (when they're all fit!) in the division.

I'm still not convinced by our attack, we have lots of options but still missing a finisher. If only we'd kept Clinton for another season...

OK so we haven't got any money to spend but they've got a few decent players but we could always pretend
