View Full Version : Obviously no more signings

Some people thought that we left other signings late last night, which is why we haven't announced them yet. But the official site now states we've signed Ventola, Sorondo and Andrews. Only 3 then. Perhaps Dowie is planning on using Kaviedes as attacking midfielder?

Would seem that way, it would further marginalize Hughes though. As for transfers, there's always January

............and freebies

there is still a chance we might sign someone like petit (fingas X) as they are a free agent they are not boiund by thee transfer window!

no more bodies over the line then and eyebrows firmly lowered. At last some peace and quiet!

Have Palace ever stated at any point that they are in for free agents after the deadline date? It sounds like nonsense to me.

Look people ID knows what he is doing......just let them settle in then we can judge how shrewd we have been in the market........I for one belive in the Boss, and know that only 100% is good enough for him,and i belive he will get that efort from the whole squad.

its never been stated but Dowie's not going to give the game away like that is he?

he was in the same mindset as us in he needs a creative midfielder which is why he was after carrick, cahill, cisse, gonzalez etc

he wouldnt bother chasing the ones he had time with while having others to chase with a deadline

...am i just grasping at straws???

but we can still go for out of contract players, and as we've discussed here there are a number who would suit us.

is petit out of contract? Some people might say he is past it, but i think he'd do a good job for us. World cup winner, remember how good he was in his prime at arsenal. Djorkaeff was class for Bolton untill he was 36.

If we sign an out of contract player can they play for us straight away, or must they wait til January?

I just think ID's 'quality free transfers' hint after Boro still leaves me suspicious of 1 or even2 more deals. We have enough now to at least do ok and bring in 1 or 2 in January to ensure survival though.

I believe freebies can come in. The subtle hint I believe is in the titel "Transfer window". Only "transfers" are not allowed. A free player isn't being transfered from anyone so they are allowed. I think anyway, but don't quote me.

is desailly a free agent.

01-09-2004, 03:58 PM
yes but it looked like he was going to celtic though i think they have mow missed the champions league registration window!

Petit would be awesome

01-09-2004, 04:35 PM
Yep, agree with that.

I believe we WILL sign him.

01-09-2004, 04:44 PM
Nice- positive thinking, we need a bit more of that at Palace these days

I agree that free transfers are not beyond the realms of possibility. I have heard Manu Petit mentioned many times and was told very recently that he would very much like to stay in the premiership and especailly London as he has apparently fallen for the city in a big way (whatever rocks ya socks). We dont need to wait for the transfer window to reopen to sign an unemployed player as FIFA decided a couple of years back that this would be denying the chance of an income for months to many men around the world and therefore morally wrong (and possibly even illegal). We cant sign players that are in employment on loan or permanent deals. I agree that if a free or 2 were in the pipeline then ID does'nt need to rush (unless someone else gets wind of it) and we could see it happen at any time
