AJ is a player who I am not worried about. Even if he hasn't, he will. He is settled here, and has made it clear that he wants to stay. Anyway, I think he may of signed, but the press are trying to create something thats isn't.

If we stay up - he'll stay.
If we go down - he'll go.

5 year contract makes no difference.

I find that the Mirror and sometimes the Daily Mail never say good things about Palace

It does when you talk about the transfer fee. I saw AJ the day before the Everton game(just after theGG rumour) in Beck leisure club where he regularly goes. I said to him " Suppose we have got to put up with you for another five years"
He replied yes this does'nt necessarily mean he has signed but one thing for sure I will ask him next time I see him quiet often.

Sounds like a...We haven't got a story so let's say Palace haven't got a contract signed.

:S:

Johnson signed it was confirmed by Palace AND Dowie, and when I say confirmed I mean said that he had written his signature on a 5 year contract!

Quite. I think it's fairly clear this is just a variant on the 'has ID signed?' story, only this time with zero foundation, designed to stir up worried Palace fans, and sell a few extra papers.

I really don't see any reason why he would'nt have signed it.Good contract get out clauses to protect him anyway. Unless someone has heard he is in an conspiracy with Dowie who wants to take him if he goes, bit to far fetched even for me that one.

The only way to agree a contract is by signing it. Otherwise, you haven't agreed anything.

Typical Mirror Group of crap papers, always running their hate campaign against the Palace. Believe none of it until AJ says it himself - am sure I can remember seeing him talking about his contract on SSN some time ago, and how he was happy to have signed, blah blah, etc etc.

Ahem! Is GG being deliberately ambigious to avoid a big pay-out, or am I being a bit thick?

Is GG referring to Routledge - in a grammatic sense I believe he is, or is he referring to the subject of the thread, Johnson? Or is he going with whichever one suits?

I would advise all punters to double check to avoid disappointment later ;)

This I am lead to believe is the case, as with Dowie's contract - this information comes from Dowie himself and I have the tapes to prove it!

A few more crossing of T's and dotting of I's and both will be sorted.

Not an employment contract, but this is the story of a contract I once (eventually) signed

agreed terms with the other party, both apparently quite happy

their solicitor spotted an oddity and we re-negotiated and added a clause - this took four weeks

the revised contract sent to my solicitor who pointed out that read one way, and very literally, the new clause could do me out of £8000. Clause re-phrased - this took a week

revised revised contract sent back to their solicitors (to save time this back and forth happened several times over 6 weeks)

Contract finally signed some three months after I would in all honesty have said everything was agreed. During that time both I and, to the best of my knowledge, the other party considered ourselves bound by the agreement even though not legally signed.

I would point out also that this "only" took three months as both parties were in a hurry and told the soliciors so - frequently.

My point is simply that delays in signing contract do not necessarily mean second thoughts or bad faith on either side, it can simply just take time, especially, with all due respect, if lawyers get involved in rewording even a small part of it.
