Can we take players on loan while the deadline is in force? I didn't think you could

Would love him and he would be perfect for us but we will never get him. We have to really start looking long term, lets get a few older players on short contracts, high wages but do the right job. Then move long term and get youngsters with a mix, then we can look for high profile players.

These threads are just a waste of time. We need to do a pompey, not a Leeds.

Parker's a talent & would be ideal for us, but as has been said, he'll probably end up back at Clowntown.. Gotta be on 40k a week too, that's alot of watches for Jordan!

He won't go back to Charlton, he had a big falling out with Curbishley before he left, and refused to train with the reserves.

Let s get him on loan, if he like s playing week in week out, you never know he might stay.

No chance at all, there are 6 or 7 premiership teams who would get him ahead of us....................

i appreciate its unlikely, but you have to have a go before dismissing it out of hand without trying. Bolton have signed many unlikely players on loan.
Plus the fact is Parker doesn't want to leave London so that 6 or 7 premiership clubs would immediately come down.

Maybe this is the 'eyebrow raiser' Dowie was promising.

Half the Premiership would take him on loan if they could, we wouldn't get him.

Can't see him going back to Charlton, their fans hate him, more than they hate us.

Parker is on 47K a week.... we would have to pay that if he were to join on loan ! So - no chance !

No we can't. We can only sign players who were out of contract on 31 August. Can't even sign them if they have been released since then until 1/1

we wont neccesarily have to pay all his wages, i dont think we are paying Sorondo's or Ventola's wages. i might be wrong though

why is this being discussed?

OK, let's say we loan him for the reat of the season, and let's assume that the season lasts another 28 weeks. It has been established that Parker is on 47,000 per week. Can you really see Jordan paying over a million in wages for a player who would go back to his own club after that? Get real.

Seriously though, how much do we lose if we are relegated ?

Little Matt
23-09-2004, 09:37 PM
Yes Riccardo but Jordan (and to some extent Dowie) have clearly budgeted for immediate relegation. Speaking brutally we'd be likely to go down even if we could sign him, so it's a million or so down the river which ever way you look at it.

I've said all along... that scott parker will rue joining chelsea.. he should've stayed at charlton and he would've gone to the european championships... instead his greedy little mits have cost him that.. although I do have it on good authority that he will join Manchester Utd next summer... but will go out on loan in january.. possibily back to Charlton. although apparently liverpool are sniffing around him too... loan and permanent...

Why? Chelsea have farmed Crespo out for the season and are still paying his wages.

Not to another Premiership club they haven't. For loans within the Premiership the borrowing club has to bear the cost.

Ah, fair enough. Parker would be far too expensive for us then, surely?
