Who is your favourite signing so far?

I've gone for Boyce, he's made the leap from Div 2, now Div 1, the old Div 3 and doesn't look out of place, if he continues to improve at this rate we could have a real find on our hands! If your'e going to include Ventola then I think it is only fair that you should have put in Torghelle. The best signing made by Palace this millenium was made by Jordan, when he got Dowie to put pen to paper!

I'm amazed that Hall hasn't even been included in this vote. In my opinion he has been our best signing by a mile. He looks fantastic at the back for me and looks very accomplished. Considering he's only about 24 I think he could turn out to be a fantastic signing for us over a number of years.

Know it makes no sense, and he's hardly played (when he has he's been great, though benefitting from an improved defence and midfielder)...but its got to be Gabor for me...he does look the part and know its harsh on Speroni but when I saw Kiraly on the teamsheet at Villa just felt so confident...and think this, combined with the err, 'communication', command of the 18-yard box and that vital amount of goalkeeper craziness surely filter through to the team and help performances...

Fitz Hall. The only player who has come in since the end of last season, and improved the team cos he gives us quality, height and PACE in the back4 that we didn't have.

After that, the rest of the signings have been good, especially considering Dowie's limited chequebook.

Ventola will be a star if he can stay injury free when he returns. Torghelle is MUCH better than Shipps and he's only 22. He's still raw but he's one for the future and he will adapt. Kaviedes is Freedman's replacement and he looks good too, although I'm not sure about signing him for 2m!! (When they are given a chance, these players will show us an improvement since last season as well.)

Kiraly is an excellent keeper.

Boyce, Kolkka, Hudson, Leigertwood, Speroni are all good cover.

Too early to tell about Lakis.

Sorondo looks poor and possibly the only bad move in the transfer market although he's only on loan.

Andrews, Danze it looks like have only been signed to give them a chance to see if they can develop and push for a place in the first-team squad.

I think we need to sign a left-back and a left winger.

Sadly we don't need Borrowdale, Powell, Togwell, Sorondo, Derry, Black, Freedman, Shipps anymore.

I still cannot believe we got Emmerson Boyce on a free. He has the makings of a very good player indeed and there must be a lot of Premiership managers asking their scouts how they missed him.

1) Iain Dowie
2) Andy Johnson

these are the two most important signings of the year

cant argue with that either - it said this in one of the season previews that palaces biggest signing would be dowie - aj and hopefully wayne would set us up for the future rather than just living for the moment and this season

I dont agree about Sorondo, I think he looks calm and assured at the back when he comes on. Excellent cover I reckon. More experienced than Mikele and Powell and less prone to errors.

Didn't catch Borrowdale excelling against his peers @ U 20 on Sunday then?????

Am suprised Sorrondo has come in for critisism seeing as he has not played very much.

The game against hartlepool i though he looked ok nothing special but not bad considering. Against Fulham he came on into a defence that was put under more pressure as the game went on as Fulham changed their formation but thought he looked calm and assured!

Otherwise I won't be voting :)

No, I didn't see the game! He's technically excellent but his lack of pace wil find him out in the top league. Will make a very good fizzy league player though.

It's a shame the Thread starter didn't think this out better, and include everyone we've signed, rather than a selection. This rather makes the whole thing pointless.

It would be interesting to discover how our views on a question like this alters as the months go on. If you'd asked the same question a month ago, Torghelle would evidently have collected a number of votes - now, no-one seems even to moan about him being omitted from the possible choices. Kaviedes (currently second) seems flavour of the month - which can only be because of a league cup match v Hartlepool and a short substitute appearance against Fulham. If you'd asked the same question about him a month ago, he might have attracted no votes at all. Are we fickle, or what :)

I might well start up a similar thread to this (but including all our signings) at the end of every month, and record how our views change over time. So if you only like to vote occasionally on this sort of poll, wait for another couple of weeks until the next (better!) one comes out.

Looking at the players we brought in im quite exicted about the long term future of the club.

Boyce is just getting better and better with evey game, It's hard to believe he played division 2 football last season and made two steps up,He's making it look easy.

Speroni is still a good goalkeeper but needs to improve on his consistentsy(sp?)

Kiraly could become a star for Palace, He has just looked amazing, commands the box so well. Fast becoming a fans favourites with his antics(anyone see how mad he was going when Dowie wouldn't let him go up for the corner at Bolton) What a dude!

One Size looks good and him and Pops are forming a good partnership at the back.

Kolkka still looks a bit shakey but there is no doubting he has talent.

As for our other signings i think we have got some great players there and they can only improve and help us in the long term.

I think if we can get him fully fit, Ventola will quickly become a huge favourite, but out of those currently playing regularly it has to be one-size for me.
