Chopra?

Surely they are having a laugh!

Not suprised they would be interested in Wayne though!

Palace should counter with a "Palace want Shearer" ...

Ambrose is a good call.

I certainly wouldn't want Chopra though, he's nowhere near the finished article yet and we're very well off for strikers at the moment.

I'd take Dyer, Chopra and Bernard plus 50% of any sell on fee

Dyer would cost a fortune in wages and is always injured, anyway. So, no thanks. If we have to let Wayne go, we want hard cash.

We wouldn't be able to afford the grossly over-inflated wages of any Newcastle first team squad member.

Setting aside even money - what impact would just about any of the squad who "got behind" Bobby Robson so well have on the spirit in the Palace dressing room?

Spot on Beanie, I think Souness will suffer the same problems until he starts bringing his own men in. The only one individual who is probably outside of that and we could use would be Butt, I still think a bargain buy from Moan U and I bet they are missing his solidity in midfield

Spot on. Chopra would be no good to us either.

Not gonna happen - Wayne is more talented than anyone they've got in a similar role in my opinion, we'd be mad to let him go. Only if he's keen - and why would he be the way things are going now?

BTW - fansfc.com is the same source at the expensive phone line on the TV I believe, certainly avertised on the same page.

If he is so keen on a striker then how about Kluivert and ok to show we are generous we do not want any money just Kluivert for Wayne. Otherwise Wayne is gonna leave for free eventually

That would be such an awful 'deal' for us it's indescribable.

I do not care how young Wayne is Kluivert is miles better than him. Next you are gonna say swapping Wayne and Watson for Van Bronchorst and Davids is the worst possible thing to do

Sussex Eagle

We are more than adequately covered for strikers. AJ is doing fantastic, and Ventola, IK, ST & DF are easily good enough for a club in the position we're in. We have no other right-wingers, Wayne is a central part of our team, and is one of the most talented young players in the country. Kluivert, is an overpaid, overrated waster who would take us down and possibly send us bust.

This isnt a one-off, my Newcastle mate was hearing stories about Routledge before the season started. :(

ID is looking for quick, technical and morally correct players. Only AJ has the sort of pace we're looking for (up front). Whether Chopra fits the bill is open to question.

Exactly, I really have no idea why some people think he is a decent player at all?

What has he actually done that is so special?
Has he helped England or Newcaste achieve anything?

You have got to be kidding. Is everyone here under the very naive impression that players that have come from better teams like Mendieta and Kluivert are overpaid shits. Ridiculous. Have you actually seen any Newcastle games he is a very useful part of their team and a bargain. He only came to Newcastle cause he had a bust up at Barcelona with the coach and if he were at Palace I would have him next to Johnson up front rather than any other one of our strikers

I'm not denying he's a talented player. But he would not fit into the Dowie ethos or the team. If we ever want to play 442, our other strikers are perfectly adequate for the job. If we lose Routledge - Black, Soares or Derry are definately not.

admitadly he might not fit into our style of play but I was surprised to see someone before you post that getting Kluivert for an inevitable Wayne leaving was a crap deal. Not that hed come to us anyway so who cares

We are more likely to get Bowyer than Kluivert anyway - thats if it even happens.

Tell Souness where he can shove his Chopra

Yeah what about Lakis?
He could fill in Waynes position, also Koolka, who is doing admirably is a right footed player.
So there are two possiblilties there.
As I hear it, Wayne thinks he's a big club player anyway (big time charlie like Gray and Morrison). If this is the case, let him go for cash only. We don't need part cash part player.
Given the assists Wayne's had this year, it will cost anyone megabucks in the current climate of over inflated transfer fees.
Also not forgetting who Wayne's greedy agent is, the chances are that he will move in January.

Oh yeah - I'd momentarily forgotten about his existence. Please disregard that stuff, then.

The agent may want Wayne to leave - but he can't force the issue, nor can another club for that matter. Although it could cost money I think that Wayne will see out his contract as Gray did last season. He has to play well or his "big move" chances will reduce and the money we'll lose - probably no more than 1.5m, possibly much less given that we get compensation - will be be amply repaid if we stay up.
