Don't think we could fit him and Deco in the same side though.

Whilst on the subject, considering the large (for us) fee that we paid for Deco, is he coming back from injury any time soon? He's hardly played for us since he joined .

Agreed Mike, its a disgrace. He's quite old though, so the injuries are just part of the deal I guess. Shame though :(

I know how good everyone thinks he is (I've never seen him play), but it does seem like 4.5 wasted...

He's being linked to City and Southmpton again as his stint with Roma hasn't been especially successful. He seems like he really wants to play in the premier and has talent by the boatload. Only problem is he seems like quite the headcase.

Mido could work out well for Palace though as I believe he can play striker, left wing or behind the striker in the hole, just where we might use some depth.

Perhaps some kind of loan deal might not be out of the question..?

Have heard of him as a big talent, but we really don't need another ephemeral player who's a bit of a loon la Kaviedes

Mido - Former Ajax, Celta and Marseille player. A poor man's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Joaquin - World class Spanish right winger, plays for Betis, but the next 'galactico'.

Deco - Experience Portuguese schemer, who had a good Euro 2004 for Portugal, and that Palace signed for 4.5m this Summer, but has hardly played any games for us due to injury.

Err, he hasn't - as you would have noticed if you saw last weekend's Spanish footy on Sky ;)

No African Nations' Cup this season, so he won't be away for ages on international duty. Bring it on.

Good shout and not entirely unrealistic. He is a nutter though, but perhaps Dowie and Harbin could temper his, um, temper.

Time to revive this?

Southampton and Tottenham are battling it out for Roma striker Mido.

The player's agent Christophe Henrotay confirmed both clubs had made enquiries for the Egyptian international.

Both sides are in the market for a new striker with Southampton seeking a replacement for James Beattie and Tottenham boss Martin Jol admitting he would like a fourth striker at the club.

Southampton have held a long-term interest in Mido and tried to sign him last summer before he opted to move to Roma.

Mido has struggled to make an impact at Roma and is keen on a move away after finding his first team opportunities limited at the Stadio Olimpico.

Henrotay revealed both clubs had made enquiries for Mido over a possible loan move and that a move could happen if Roma decide to let him go.

"Yeah there are some possibilities with Mido, but at the moment it is very complicated because Roma paid a lot of money for Mido and he has not played a lot," Henrotay told skysports.com.

"We are looking for a loan and it is true that Southampton are looking for some solution.

"I have spoken to the chairman Rupert Lowe and he knows the player and he tried to bring him to the club before."

"Tottenham are also keen and (sporting director) Frank Arnesen knows all about Mido from his time in Holland.

"Mido wants to be playing football and he would go to a club where he will be playing."

If Southampton are going for him it's not entirely unrealistic. (Ok, it's unlikely, but not impossible).

Don't think so. If he might go to Southampton, why not Palace ? If he does go to the Saints, and we end up signing lower league or obscure international nonentitites I will go spare.

He won't go to saints either.

He is the kind of player I would expect to go to Newcastle. Surprises happen though.
