Playing Arsenal Reserves tomorrow night 13th December should be a good crowd for this one. We actually will go above Arse in the league if we win. wish that would apply to the first team. As many as possible should get there to support the lads, must be better entertainment than Saturday and its free.

Thanks modernsouler.

Shame about Sandor.

Ivn is a bit of a "character" then? He reminds me a bit of Sasa. Against Brazil on Bravo he looked dangerous but edgy.

I think just whack Ivan in for Hughsey against Man U, if Aki is fit.

Of course it could go horribly wrong and Ivan could get nothing to do all night like against Chelsea...but we should keep him in the first 11 for Pompey...he and AJ could really rip their defence to shreds....

If Dowie is reluctant to go to 4-4-2 I think Ivan is the perfect man to play in a 4-4-1-1. He would provide a deadly link between midfield and attack.

I watched the reserve game and he has an exquisite touch, when he gets it right his through balls and passes are perfectly weighted and is clearly the most naturally gifted player in the squad and arguably the most creative with a great eye for a pass. I was also encouraged to see that he showed a bit more enthusiasm both in the warm-up and in the game but overall I thought he looked average but good in patches. I also saw him chatting with Togwell, anybody know how much english he has learnt as he knew very little when he arrived?

Overall tonight was a mixed performance. Starting with the negatives, Torghelle was awful and if Roma are chasing him they must be mad. Also, Butterfield is miles from the first team, he doesn't look like the player of old, he appeared far too hesitant and made a few clumssy passes. Also thought Derry had a bad game.

On the positive side, Kaviedes looked dangerous at times. Hudson and Sorondo were both very solid and I thought Leigertwood looked very composed as did Seroni.

Agreed Kaveides was our most creative player.
Team were growing in confidence as the game wore on.
Danny Butts slowly improving but still a bit disappointing.
Disappointed with Sandor although it is probably that he needs more time. Caught offside too many times and that is a WASTE.
Liked the look of Anthony Danze when he came on and once the understanding with Kaveides, amongst others, is developed could lead to a special pairing.
Mostly the others played well.
Arsenal had some away support who outsung us :)
Enjoyable if very cold evening.

Am i the only one here who felt that Torghelle had a good game and looked very promising for the future? Most people around me also felt he done ok.
It just seems that unless he scores a hat trick every game people will say he is awful when he clearly has talent.
Tonight he held the ball up very well, played some good balls forward and his first touch is very good along with his flicks, saw Dowie after the game too and he said he was very happy with Sandor's performance.
For me the poorest player for us was Wayne Andrews, his passing was awful, vision was poor, and his final ball was dreadful and couldnt see any reason as to why Dowie has him on the bench, he has pace but thats about it and if Andrews is picked ahead of Torghelle on Saturday i would be disappointed.
I agree Kaviedes was the class player on the pitch but i do find it unfair of you to say Torghelle was awful, if he had scored a goal which i felt his performance deserved then it would have been a diffrent story with you all.

Yeah, I agree. Sandor held the ball up really well - including one time when he basically played keepy-uppy to keep the thing off the opposition. Also thought Wayne Andrews was disappointing. Didn't think Butts did too badly - but not really competing against Boycie yet. Solid display from Mikele Leigertwood.

Torghelle could be a great player in a year or two trouble is we need him to be now at the moment he is liability whenever he plays.
Wayne andrews was played out of position tonight on the left and did not have a good game.
Danny b. was great going forward but made a couple of poor errors in defence.

I think we're trying to flog Derry, Powell and Black + possibly Shipps. Players like Borrowdale, Danze & Hudson might get loaned out. There's definitely a push to ship a few out before January to make room/money for newcomers.
However, if Dowie was to get a player of quality like Gabbidon or Dawson I think he probably would sell Hudson who doesn't look like he'll make the (Premier) grade.

Went to the game, not going to bother putting a ful report up, but I'll give ratings out of ten for everyone. We played best when both Kaviedes and Lakis were playing, however we did get offside far to many times. Didn't deserve to lose, but we weren't really the better side either so a draw was probably a fair result. Was frickin frezzing though.

Speroni - 7
Butterfield - 7
Hudson - 6
Sorondo - 5
Leggyweggywood - 6
Lakis - 7
Derry - 6
Soares - 7
Black n/a
Andrews - 5
Torghelle - 5

Kaviedes (for black) - 7
Togwell (for sorondo) - 6
Danze (for lakis) - 6

I thought Kaviedes showed he is worth a start in the first team, he can open the opposition up with some very smart passing and has a great first touch, although when he loses posession, it can often set up the other team's counter attack!

Sandor was frustrating in my opinion, he had one glorious chance to score, after an Arsenal player hooked the ball of the line (I thought it actually went over) and his follow up was woeful. He certainly can be the target man we need to take the pressure off AJ, but he often looks quite clumsy and just off the pace. Perhaps a couple of goals will turn his confidence around, I think we should persevere with him.

One last point about the Lino "Referees Assistant?" that ran the line on the Main Stand 1st half, Arthur Wait 2nd half. TOSSER! He had the worst game of anyone last night, completely failing on at least half a dozen occasions to notice that players were onside when the final ball was played in, just raising his flag merely because all his was looking at was the last defender, I'm sure Sandor and the rest of the Palace forwards would have had a much better result if this idiot linesman did his job properly.

How did Soares play ?
Our goal scorer and supposed to be close to a 1st eleven start, but nobody has commented on him.

I thought Mikele Leigertwood was our best player last night at left back. He's played there in every reserve game I've seen and doesn't look out of place. He's very assured on the ball and is good at getting forward.

Torghelle and Lakis looked average, they were both offside far too many times (although the linesman didn't seem to know what he was doing half the time).

Kav looked sharp when he came on but drifted in and out of the game. Still think he'd be best used as a sub.

Speroni was solid enough in goal, but I still don't like the prospect of Kiraly getting injured and Julian having to step in.

Hudson played pretty well, but obviously the pace of the game was completely different to a Premiership match.

Butts looked quite good, kept it simple and looked solid as always. Could see him on the bench soon.

Danze got better as the game went on, showing some nice touches and tight balls down the line.

Soares did pretty well and will probably be in competition with Lakis and Kav for a place in the starting line up soon.

Sorondo didn't do much wrong either. Could quite possibly slot in alongside Fitz Hall to add a bit more pace and aggression to the defence.

He scored the Goal which I actually thought Kaviedes had. Probably he has not got a mention as he done very little else. Saying that I rate him very highly on what I have seen in the past.

Leggy done well and has played several games in this position . The problem is he so obviously right footed that I dont feel he is our answer at left back.

As scouts watch.

There's scouts at every reserve game Michelle.

Joe Royle, Paul Sturrock, Ronnie Moore and several others turned up at one away game earlier in the season.
