Apparently a 26-year old Argentine who can play centre-back or left-back (:)).

Skysports.com understand that Argentine Lucas Alessandria is England and training with Crystal Palace.

The 26-year-old defender is currently plying his trade in his homeland with Lanus, but season in Argentina has just finished and he is looking for a loan move.

A number of clubs from Spain have shown an interest, but he is hoping to secure a move to The Premiership.

Palace are the first side to make a move, although there are thought to be a host of clubs monitoring his situation.

Despite the interest, it is believed that Ian Dowie's Eagles have first refusal on Alessandria, who can play centre half or left back.

Alessandria does have experience in Europe having spent a period with Leganes last year, before returning to Lanus.

Maybe THAT was the bloke my mate saw at Selhurst and thought (erroneously) might be Almeyda. Knew he couldn't just be making it up :) Yay for new leftbacks!

Just looked him up on FM for some idea of what he might be like - looks alright but there's no mention of being able to play left-back or having a left foot. Hope that's just poor research, as we don't need another centre back unless he is real class.

Can you post up a screenshot of his stats? ;)

Would this mean we've been tracking this guy for some time if we've got first option already?

I've noticed this is your pet peeve mate, but nobody thinks it necessarilly means a lot - it's just a bit of info which basically tells you how good their researcher(s) in Argentina think he is. Bet you wouldn't complain if an Argie came on here and told us what he thought of the player?

BW - still some fog o' war on him, I'm afraid, but he's valued at 850k if that means anything to you!

Here we go,

Looks quite good physically. He's got Italian as 2nd nationality so WP wouldn't be a problem.
