Dowie cool on Euell link

Crystal Palace manager Iain Dowie has played down reports Charlton striker Jason Euell is on his January shopping list.

Charlton manager Alan Curbishley says the Jamaica international, who has not started a Premiership game since the 2-1 home defeat by Middlesbrough on 30 October, will not be leaving in the January transfer window.

"I wouldn't comment even if he was," insisted Dowie. "He is Charlton's player. Jason is an excellent player, but my targets will remain my targets."

Good, doesnt look like Dowie's going to be revealing his targets to anyone so all the 'my friend knows Dowie's dog who said...etc' comments can be dismissed..

I'm sure that there will be plenty of people within the club that know who our transfer targets are.

Is a good player, but we're quite well off for strikers. Left sided defenders and midfielders please.

The defenders should be left sided, the midfielders don't necessarily need to be.

He's an attacking midfielder.

He's primarily a striker who can drop back and play in midfield, but he's more a goalscorer than a supporting attacking player - he's been Charlton's top scorer in each of the last three seasons, which suggests that, good player as he is, he isn't going to do the midfield job we need.

Indeed.

And those who are likely to 'Depart the ship' in the near future.

If we can't do better than Jason Muell then I think we're in more trouble than we think. That the duracell bunny would be a good replacement for Granville remains a moot point

a player with a record of 33 goals from 97 games isnt good enough for us ? that having spent a number of them games playing from midfield.

I've never really rated him. He hasn't done much since his Don days.

Actually sounds exactly like the kind of player we need in the current formation.

I think if Dowie was going to play someone in that role in our midfield he would be letting Kaviedes have a go at it.

From what I have seen of Kaviedes, he could do a good job for us.
