Sunday Mirror says we are after the Birmingham midfielder and that he would be happy moving away from St. Andrews for regular football. Is he worth buying in January?

I thought he was a left back???

Has always seemed competent but ordinary. A decent 4th midfielder, who will add depth, but probably no real improvement on the first 11.

Left sided/central midfielder, would make one Palace player's other half's family happy

Agree. Definately no improvement on DG at left back. What we need is a midfielder wo can thread passes through to AJ. Someone like Berkovic at pompey.;)

decent player, but so low profile he might as well be invisible. That can mean one of two things, either he's a hard working, vastly underrated player who quietly influences the whole team into playing better a la Garry Flitcroft, or....he's a bit crap and not worth bothering with. If you actually sign him you can assume he's pretty good, if not then you've lost nothing.

Average first division player in my opinion.Like a certain left back we have at the moment.

Depends on how much he costs and wages. If he can come for nearly free and be on same wages as others, then he will be a good signing. I think he would add a lot to our current bench.

no better than Derry.

If we are interested in players like this and think that he would be a first team player then we are showing either a lack of ambition or pure and simple mediocrity.

Yep, Stephen's sister, Ray's daughter, Sarah, is Dougie's wife.

What? Clemence is younger, has England under 21 caps, has featured in the prem for his whole career and is better than Derry.

He's very very very average. Just like Derry.

yes He is an average player, no step up unless ID is just looking for strength in depth. Also he's not a left back just a central midfielder with little creativity. The left back you might be confused about is Jamie Clapham who moved to birmingham the same day as clemence

Not disputing the fact that Clemence is an average player, but he is average by premiership standards. Our first team is less than average by premiership standards, and Derry isn't even part of that.

Think they were more confused with Neil Clement of West Brom (who IS a left back)

STEPHEN CLEMENCE (midfielder) is the son of Ray Clemence.

Junior Clemence plays for Birmingham.
