We have to go for ashton but i think more of the top teams will be intrested in him. He would be a good player alongside aj though and he's scoring in the Championship.

Why does everyone want Ashton?

We need etablished people who can do a job at this level.

Well said the way the everyone is talking you would think Ashton is the messiah for us. Yeah good player but Im not convinced he is the one(I will eat my words if we do buy him and he keeps us up) and he is only in Division 1...

Agree with C-Block ( ).

He would cost a lot of money and with that we could be spending on the most important areas - i.e. midfield and leftback.

a player has to get a break at some point though and i can't see crewe getting promoted. Although i would prefer a player who can nod the ball onto johnson.

Euell...dont laugh, he is experienced in the premiership and would do a much better job than Ashton. Also he has a point to prove to charlton.

With Beattie going to Everton how about Duncan Ferguson until the end of the season? Still a dangerous forward with huge Prem experience to fit the ID bill.

Be good in the boxing training Phil, he is actually a player that I have always rated as top class not sure he would fit in at Palace though. I would have him.

With Beattie likely to sign, I reckon both Ferguson or Campbell could be surplus to requirements. I prefer Ferguson. But he might spend more time suspended than on the pitch, So, maybe Campbell's a safer option. He can relive that crazy moment with Speroni in training.

Alex Nyarko and Abel Xavier are due to link-up with Southampton in the next 24 hours..

Xavier has the experience.

We already have the answer. Just need to persuade our esteemed manager to put his boots on

Why do we take so long to sort out who we need, why dont we take a leaf out of Harry Redknapp's book.I am sure that we must have strong contacts working for us that could pick up some bargains like he seems to do.

Nathan Ellington. He's so much more suitable a partner for AJ than Ashton it's untrue.

Wigan would not sale him untill at least the end of the season, if at all.

They can rejected offers because of wealthy chairman.

Marlon Harewood. Or give Shipps or Torghelle a run in the side. I still think Sandor can do a job for us.

we dont want a donky like les ferdinand, ferguson, kyle, sod them. coz we'll end up just lumping it up the park. we need someone with abit of technical ability aswell as strength,so can create for aj ie ashton, and he'll bang in a few himself!!

If any of thoses so called donkeys were playing the forst half at Fulham they certainly would of been on the end of one of our many crosses. Meat & Drink to big Duncan, he may be a head case but there is no doubt his quality, donkey no way. We all want Ashton much better long term bet but he would cost a lot. Ferguson would be a much better short term proven option if you can keep him out of jail.

Best for one season would be Alan Shearer as he would be the target man we need but agree with andyeagle a Ferguson, les ferdinand or Teddy Sheringham would also be ideal.

Got a feeling Kevin Campbell of Everton could be returning to the capital with us.

I would take Les Ferdinand over him, any day of the week. Campbell is over-paid and over-rated and would be an enormous drain on our finances.

Ferdinand would be a good short term signing and would take a lot of the pressure off AJ. Even at 38, he could still offer an enormous amount to the team, as he keeps himself unbelievably fit.

What would we possibly have to lose?

Just how long until Ventola is fit again? I don't see us being able to sign anyone potentially better.

I would have to agree. If Ventola can get fit his characteristics would combine well with Johnsons,he always played quite well with Kallon or Ronaldo(on the few ocasion they played togeter) and kallon in particular is very simular to johnson but he was horibble when he played up front with Vieri!

Apparently Ronaldo is Ventola's best mate, so maybe he can have a word.....

You might as well go and get Trevor Effing Aylott.

We're building a squad for the future not a retirement home.

after seeing Hughes yesterday, think priority could be a midfielder first a box to box midfielder like Cahill would of been perfect. please don't get injured AJ

We cannot afford to pay Ferguson's wages and his disciplinary record is not good, and he is injury prone. Next.

I agree with Helguson. He has consistently scored goals in a naff Watford side and is pretty decent in the air. We won't be able to afford Ashton or ellington.
