View Full Version : Les Ferdinand

.....has left Bolton today by 'mutual consent'.
He wants to come back to London.

I think we should get him till the end of the season. Perfect foil for AJ. A real battler, still very quick and brilliant in the air.

Only problem with him could be injuries and the fact he is about 36.

Any thoughts?

If he is fit, he could be the perfect outlet for AJ. Certainly worth a 6 month contract!

He's more like 38 isn't he??

No thanks anyway.

unless we can bring in someone better in january, we'd be silly not to go for him. he brings leadership to the team as well which in my eyes, is what were lacking at the moment.

I think he'd be an excellent short term acquisition, but i get the feeling he'll probably end up at the saints with harry, we made need to act fast!

I think he'd be a great asset. Sign him till the end of the season.

Yeah you are right actually, he is 38.

QPR and Southampton apparently lead the chase at the moment.

Usually I'd be against it, but as it'd only be until the end of the season I see no harm in it. Besides he almost single handedly kept Wet Sham up two seasons ago.

With our 2 wingers getting in crosses i think he'll be an decent signing but dpends on his fitness at 38, also he wont be match fit as i sont think he's playe much for bolton

He has managed to start only 1 game all season and has scored one goal from the bench. Probably time for him to walk away from the game, at least at this level.

The Redknapp bandwagon rolls into town, expect him to be linked with every man and his dog over the next 4 weeks.

If he was fit he'd be fantastic for us, but he's not.

dont see any harm in taking players like ferdinand on a 6 month contract. if he can score 5 0r six goals then that is bound to help us out in a major way.

DANCOO

If he's not good enough for a struggling Bolton side, why the hell would we want him?

How would that help us out? Put in a five goal man, where we should be looking for a 10 goal man.

He scored a fair few for leicester the other year

personally i think getting him in for the rest of the season would be a good move. Hes also a good freekick taker.

The type of player we need to stay in this league - a great attitude and still scoring if he plays

Exactly, always one to come off the bench and score, the same thing can't really be said of Andrews or Torghelle.

1 goal this season from 10 appearances. Last full premier season for Spurs in 2001/2 managed 9 premier goals. Not good enough anymore.

Probably Teesside only humour here but I believe the words Phil Stamp and "Yer joking aren't yer?" spring to mind.

Think he was discussed at the beginning of the season, dont think anyone particularlly wanted him then why now? The only difference is he is even older now are we getting this desperate maybe?

Isn't he wanted at Southampton by Harry?

Now, let's see, we're 1-0 down with 20 minutes to go. Who would you rather see coming off the bench: Wayne Andrews or Les Ferdinand? (Just my way of ensuring that Wayne scores a hattrick this afternoon!)

we won't go in for him for the same reasons we never go for Teddy Sheringham or Petite. The management team is full of talk but lack ambition, other teams go in for these players and we are left to think if only.

Ooooh, if only we'd signed Les Ferdinand we'd be top of the league.

Yeah, ok.

no, it's because out management team have common sense and realise that players like teddy sheringham and les ferdinand are past it and that we have better at the club already.

thank god you're not in charge! christ!

oooh, if only we'd got kanu or helveg, they're proven quality...hmmm exactly. that's the sort of signing ferdinand would be... crap.

oooh I didn't say we would win the world cup or anything like that, but who do you think played a massive part in Portsmouth staying up last season and who has done a more than good job at West Ham this season. I also didn't say they are better than the players we have here, but if you can't see that we need someone to calm things down alot of the time then thank god your not in charge as well.

Yeh why not?

He would be good for AJ and scores a few himself.
