Hugo Almeida, international young striker from Porto, will, probably, go on loan to an english premier league club.

West Ham, Sunderland, Southampton, Bolton and Crystal Palace are interested clubs.

From someone on the SI boards. Haven't heard much about him tbh.

A signing like could turn out to be brilliant or a complete waste, not really what we need imo

Looking on FM (;)) he seems to be a targetman type striker.

I have heard his name before, apparantley a bit of a youth star. But not all youth stars turn out to be good.

Very true. Postiga springs to mind.

But if it's only a loan we can't lose surely?

More info...

Is very promising. He seems a little bit like Vieri Wink

Hes very strong, good in the air, holds the ball very well and he has a good shot.

He played for Portugal 2 times, I think, but hes the under 21 portuguese team striker.

Hes only 19.

Dowie said he wants established players though, so can't see him buying a 19 year old. You never know...

 More from SKY SPORTS:
:
Porto striker Hugo Almeida could be set for a loan move to England in the transfer window.

Almeida is well down the pecking order at the UEFA Champions League holders and they are willing to loan him out.

Porto have enlisted the help of Almeida's representative to help find him a move.

Almeida could be set for a move to England, with a number of clubs believed to have enquired about taking the 20-year-old on loan for the rest of the season.

Crystal Palace and Bolton are both thought to be leading the chase to bring the Portuguese international to The Premiership.

Bolton are on the lookout for a new striker, having lost Kevin Davies to injury and seen Les Ferdinand leave.

Palace are also in the market for a forward as they look to ease the burden on top scorer Andy Johnson and they could be keen on taking Almeida on loan.

Any move looks difficult as Porto only want to let him_go to a club where he will get regular first team action and the English teams are insisting on having an option to buy him if he impresses while on loan, which Porto do not want to do.

If the offers from England do not suit Porto they could decide to loan him out to Braga so he can get valuable first team action.

According to Sky, Almeida's 2004/05 record is:

UEFA Champions League
FC Porto
Played 0
Substitute 0
Goals 0
Yellow Cards 1 !!!!!!!!!
Red Cards 0

How did that happen? Mouthing off from the bench?

People talk of bringing in proven premiership (ability) quality as thats the only thing which could keep us up. Ashton is a gamble at this stage of the season

A loan wouldn't hurt, but I'd prefer Ashton
