True, very good point. I bought my Telecaster on-line and love it but if/when I decide to buy another then I will wait until I can go into a bricks and mortar shop to try a few out before I make up my mind.

What didn't you like about the feel of the Yamaha SG? Which model?

went to look at a Gibson SG, neck was huge and like playing a chair leg, had a Lag at the time which had a real tight neck and the Gibson just felt wrong.

Ah, I see. The Gibson is an entirely different beast from the Yamaha. I loathe Gibson SGs. The only reason they share the SG moniker is that they're both double-cutaways. The resemblance ends there.

Here's one to make you all chuckle. My 1976 'Lawsuit' Ibanez Les Paul Custom, bought new at Chingford Music, and now described as 'vintage'. Terrific guitar that I still have, and way better than my Gibson Les Paul of the same year. That's a f*cking plank.

Yes, seen a few going for around that price. Not worth that, of course, but quite rare now, fantastic guitars, and have steadily increased in market value. I've had my money's worth out of it, and would never sell it. I remember my dear old dad signing the HP forms for me.

Yes, definitely want to see picture of your Gretsch on here once it arrives Worksop. Good choice of colour, of the finishes available I would either have opted for the dark cherry or casino gold, Gretsches don't need to be subtle. I also like the look of the big pearloid fingerboard inlays, most of the Electromatic range have thumbnail inlays, which I don't like as much (though I think they may be more traditional).
