Rubber Soul today - bit pedestrian, isn’t it?

Are you thinking of unfunnyman Nish Kumar?

First song Drive My Car. The very opposite of pedestrian.

Sometimes, it's worth listening to someone else's version of their songs to really appreciate the genius of The Beatles.

I went to a wedding where the first dance was Laibach's Across the Universe. The Grannies loved it.

Boom boom.

Revolver is the first Beatles album I listened to, and still the best imo.

This reminded me of an inappropriate song the dj played at an anniversary do I attended (not say that your song was inappropriate btw). It seemed to go largely unnoticed, apart from our table. It's not a Lennon/McCartney number to my knowledge.

I think so. It came out three days before the World Cup Final. What a week to be in England.

I was 18 months old so remember none of it...

It's the perfect bridge between early poppy Beatles and their latter-day experimental period.

Jason Ringenberg wrote the lines:
And he yells and he roars
Loves the Stones, hates the Doors
Thinks the Beatles sing for girls
He's a moonshine guy in a six pack world.

I agree with el ag's assessment: great writing and producing.

Yeah, Revolver & Rubber Soul for me.

My opinion, FWIW (Buffalo Springfield) ...
Love- Forever Changes. Heard it about 20 years ago and was very disappointed. Did nothing for me. I admit Alone Again Or is a classic song.
The Beatles- mainly brilliant. Sometimes later lost the plot.
The Doors- self- indulgent many times, but really exciting on occasions.

Stan the man 27-09-2019 08:48 PM

Not their song, but a fantastic version. Superb band.

Bands who were better than the Beatles:

The Kinks
The Small Faces
Love
Pink Floyd
The Faces
Little Feet
Slaughter and the Dogs

Ridiculous. None of these acts had the depth on their albums.

That should read Ďbands that I like better than The Beatlesí.

Iím a huge Kinks fan too but Ray Davies himself would laugh at the thought of that.

Stan the man 27-09-2019 09:08 PM

Another band i'd rather put on than beatles any day.
