Steve in Phoenix 19-01-2007 10:00 AM

108-6, 30 overs

Lewis took Clarke, Anderson gets White. Hussey still in as always.

Adlerhorst 19-01-2007 12:20 PM

My god SA are utter rubbish. 120-7 on a flat pitch against a limited attack

Adlerhorst 19-01-2007 12:20 PM

Sorry 120-8

Adlerhorst 19-01-2007 12:24 PM

Sorry again 120-9.

i've only seen 3 balls since I switched back on after they were 5-50 odd, and i've seen two wickets

Adlerhorst 19-01-2007 12:24 PM

A lot of appalling shots.

Adlerhorst 19-01-2007 12:25 PM

Some good catches by Pakistan (mixed in with the usual atrocious fielding though)

Adlerhorst 19-01-2007 12:28 PM

124 all out. Worst ten minutes of cricket by a team i have seen in ages, and that's saying something after the last couple of months

Even Sami got a wicket FFS

I think Mal Loye (I think Mal is for Malachy!) has been around for some time but is a limited 1 day hitter whose game has developed over the last 3 or 4 years into a real quality 1 day hitter. However, those of us who are familiar with the selectors insanity won't be surprised that they have called him up well after the time he should have been called up. Thats England selectors all over.

Some bright spots from today. Tremlett bowled ok. Jimmy is getting his length right at long last and bowled beautifully. Loye made a decent start, Dalrymple is a fighter and Freddie did ok but too much was left for him to do. Nixon is doing ok but I can't help thinking they have missed a trick not getting Foster/Davies/Prior/Mustard or even Batty (for you Klinx) instead.

Some not so bright spots, Bell, Joyce and Lewis (despite decent figures today) must take a break. Perhaps even Colly as he has done very little since his double ton. Get Bopara in now that he's there for christs sake!!

Still way behind the Aussies but some good signs and some fight at last.

How did Chucktar look Adler? Was he skinning up down at fine leg?

Adlerhorst 19-01-2007 12:41 PM

Pupils dilated

One of the finest five minutes of cricket ever from a one day international batsman.

Run out your partner before you've faced a ball and then acquire a golden quacker next ball.

Hats off to you Collywobbles. :p

Pakistan doing a good impression of SA at the moment 23-3

kolinkins 19-01-2007 02:26 PM

Great to see Shoaib back into his stride.

Surprised Sami was picked - how did he look Adlerhorst?

I look forward to the highlights later.

Shoaib, Asif and Kaneria - limited? Pah! all we need is Gul in for Sami, and we'd have a good bowling unit (drugs, legal actions and fitness permitting)

What's Akmal thinking?

Radders 19-01-2007 04:21 PM

16 wickets on day 1:eek:

Is it a minefield, good bowling or crap batting?

From what I saw, a bit of both, not a minefield either.
