Canít see the yanks buying Bournemouth getting relegated and backing no promotions . Possibly some sort of playoffs for relegation and only one place

For football in general yes, but if we were in the top tier and never had to worry about relegation we may see teams like us actually having more of a go as playing expansive attacking football against the better teams and losing games 2-3, 3-4 may be more exciting than trying to just get a point. We could also see more young players given a chance.

Exactly and don't forget the clubs in the ESL had a partial victory the Champions league has been reformed to make it easier for the top clubs to qualify. I think that might be from next season.

This is interesting. Sounds like Boehly has stolen Textor's mate...?

Probably already posted but if the Guardians figures are correct Palace were valued at £225million when Textor bought in (£90 mill for 40%). I believe CPFC2010 paid £12million to buy the club out of admin. Good return on investment that

Remember how shrewd Jordan looked when he mortgaged the Jumbotron? Next level.

I felt UEFA reaction was weak. They should have banned the clubs from Europe the next year.

The Guardian reporting that the fella who helped Textor bid for Lyon has joined Chelsea and then put in an offer to buy...Lyon.
Sounds a bit sneaky to me from Chelsea.

Martin H 30-09-2022 01:05 PM

No reason to panic but if Textor's business unravels before it's got going it could get very messy. For anyone following Palace since the 60's and has ridden the rollercoaster would recognise the 'it's all going too well' thought that we push to the back of our heads.

If Chelsea do indeed muscle their way into that deal and the other of Textor's investors that is eyeing Bournemouth has to step away or be ringfenced in some way, it could leave Textor on his heels. The problem these big money deals always face is that someone has the big idea and sells themselves and the idea to the people with money. A mix of logic, trust and confidence. The guy with the idea rarely is the guy with the big money and it's a bit like building the roof before you have the walls, suspending it with cranes. It will all be fine as long as you can get the walls up but if you can't then it comes crashing down at some point.

As people jump ship and do other things then it's a far bigger and typically more expensive job to replace those investors with new ones. It's not chump change after all.

Hopefully it will all work out well but bit of a blow to Textor's reputation if it fell through and Chelsea stepped in. Fingers crossed.

IMO football is about competing & winning and games with nothing riding on them mean nothing.

US sport and UK sport have evolved differently. Itís to do with geographic reasons, the country is so big that conferences have to be made, these leagues then assimilated to make a league but kept abit of their structure.

I think there would be a similar fan reaction to ESL as to the locked PL I think. Football is great because of the changes of teams plight over the years. It will be killing off some of itís appeal.

If the teams want to leave and set up their own thing then good riddance and lets keep the football pyramid.

Good provocing post. I like the principle of multi club interest/ involvement but seems as though there is so much of Textor to go round

Dorking .Eagle 01-10-2022 11:02 AM

Can anyone remind me which clubs Textor owns now (or part-owns)?

Palace,
Botafogo,
Molenbeek

any others?

Yeah, I agree with this. Something about Textor has always made me feel slightly nervous but at least we still (at the moment) have Harris/ Blitzer involved too.
