Next 6 Games

So with the next 6 games, we are playing teams in the top 8.

West Ham
Man City
Arsenal
Leicester City
Chelsea
Liverpool

How many points do we think we can get to add to our current start? I'm looking at maybe 5 or 6. 1 win + 2/3 draws.

Thoughts

5 or 6 points ? Unfortunately, doubt it very much.

We’ve beaten Manchester United away so we are capable of beating anyone on our day, but realistically we may get a draw or two from above.

2 points max, for me. Wouldn’t be the end of the world, either.

PLENTY of points up for grabs in December.

Shipp Ahoy! 28-09-2019 09:12 PM

Thank god for the points we have already got, average of a point per game after these wouldn't be the worst...

Currently on 11 from 7 so 2 from 6 which you would hope we could get. Hopefully we can far exceed this! Chelsea in particular are there for the taking and I always fancy our chances against West Ham and maybe even Leicester.

Yep. Certainly our best opportunity from the 6 games mentioned.

Bipe 28-09-2019 09:34 PM

Every year people on here say we have no chance against Leicester. Our record against them is phenomenal. Of course it has to come to an end some time but it's a game I go into fully expecting to win.

xmasape 28-09-2019 09:38 PM

I expect about 2 points from that run. Will be thrilled with 3 or more. Also expect BBS to be in full meltdown come beginning of December.

cappuccinoeagle 28-09-2019 09:50 PM

I reckon the factor re us beating Leicester was Maguire. Maybe harder now under Brendan ' I Love Myself' Rodgers. They are in with a chance of Top 6.
Arsenal are beatable, soft at the back, and probably no Lacazette.

Old Joe Paxton 28-09-2019 09:59 PM

Controversially and stupidly going for 4. 4 draws

Salad_Burnet 28-09-2019 10:00 PM

What a depressing thread. Why don't people look at the up-coming fixtures and think, best not say anything?

Still a very tough one though, look how well they started.

I’ll go for an optimistic 4 points. Instant losses to Man City and Liverpool. Potential draws and outside chances of wins vs the other 4. Would leave us on 15 points from 13, with a great run of 6 games coming up before the halfway mark where I’d expect 7-10 points.

SOUTHGATE EAGLE 28-09-2019 10:56 PM

I see a few draws and a win in there. West Ham, Leicester and a surprise result. I'd settle for four or five points. We'd still have a very decent points per game total.

4. The win will most likely be when we least expect it. Watch out Liverpool

brighton_eagle 28-09-2019 11:36 PM

Arsenal are nothing special this season. We can pick up points against any side to be honest. I'm going for 5 points from those games.

Possibly which makes me pleased we have the number of points we have, which is more than normal. The league’s pretty fvcking bizarre already. Fvck knows what’ll happen.

Let them worry about playing a very solid Palace side that has one of the best defensive records in the league with just one goal conceded at home in our first 4 games and are unbeaten in our last 6 home games.

Man City - Running scared. Proud 3.
Arsenal - Beat them last time. Squeaky 3.

Chelsea - Over-rated. Solid 3.
Liverpool - The wave is breaking. No sweat 3.

Unfortunately they've sold donkey Maguire, so that doesn't help us....

bodger 29-09-2019 08:09 AM

All winnable all loseable six points would be good but we can get more.

HurstpierPalace 29-09-2019 08:14 AM

Would gladly take 3 points from that lot given what we’ve already got on the board.

bigend1 29-09-2019 08:35 AM

3 could be considered reasonable I think
4/5 good
6-8 very good
9 or more would actually be spectacular

To be honest if we got 2 points with decent performances and no major injuries going into that manic Christmas period it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Some serious points on offer with what 8 or 9 winnable games in about 6 weeks. That’s season defining, the next 6 are trying to get a cushion

Miklemoose 29-09-2019 11:30 AM

I guessed 5. I can't say where those points are coming from out of those 6 teams but at the moment we're capable of frustrating decent teams and snatching points when we play well.

Andy in Rome 29-09-2019 11:55 AM

At the risk of giving it the kiss of death, I reckon we might get 6-7 points here.

A win vs West Ham and/or Leicester, and 4 points from the games with the 'big four' - it's not impossible. People gave us no chance against Man U and we (finally) turned them over: we turn up with the same mentality at Chelsea and Arsenal, I could see us coming away with at least a draw from both.

Agreed. Zaha in the 4-3-3 makes him a lot less threatening away from home. But better at home. Most of our good attacking moves start with Wilf, including both goals yesterday.

L Man City, unfortunately after last season we won’t get much this
D Arsenal, frustrate them catch their weak defence on the break
L Leicester City, they are due a win over us

D Liverpool, Roy will set us up to end their winning run

Just the one point from West Ham. But a pant-wetting meltdown held in check by a) accepting it in advance, and b) a pretty reasonable points tally already in the bag.

Palace have only conceded 7 goals in their last 7 games and 4 of those were at Spurs where we were forced to play clearly unfit players due to injuries.

We have been in good form for months and are on the same points as the 4th placed side sitting comfortable in 9th place.

We have nothing to fear in playing in the Premier League as we deserve to be playing in it and deserve more credit and optimism than what we get from some who seem to be waiting for our world to cave in, well you are in for a long wait as we have bounced back well from a heavy defeat and shown our mettle.

Good stats. Perhaps as this is where injuries and suspensions take its toll on normally our limited squad, or just run of fixtures?

Personally, I cannot wait for these fixtures. Mix it against the best.

Without getting carried away with our lofty position, City at home should be an electric atmopshere from us fans, scrapping for every point. Getting a point or better would be fantastic going into Arsenal who have a Europa league game on Thursday before us. Chelsea also have a tough Champions league game at home to Ajax just 4 days before us too.

Mr Bo Jangles 11-10-2019 09:11 AM

Just been on the BlueMoon forum.
They already have a ten page match day thread on our game. They are making us sound like Barcelona! See it as a must win/biggest game of the season, many tipping us for a win or draw, concerned it is just after International break and reckon they could have lost 5-0 to Wolves and had no complaints.
Saying they were lucky to win at Everton and Norwich was a shambles. They are really worried about this fixture. Last season they just took the win as a formality, how times have changed!

Coupled with a few of our fans now thinking we could nick a result, that's sewn up a Man City win!

You're thinking, like me, that VAR may yet rule out our winner at the Taxpayers' Stadium? ;)

I quite like the old school Man City fans, the ones that were around before the petro money came rolling in. Proper football fans, seen some bad times, plus after the whole C*ntona business and what followed on from there, we kind of had a mutual enemy. I get the feeling a lot of the ones posting on there are old school.

I agree, they seem to have the same sense of negativity as most on here (hdeagle excluded).

It's not so much negativity, it's just, well, how best to relate supporting Palace... it's kinda like getting married for the third time: the triumph of hope over experience.

Palace can definitely give the top 5 a game and the pressure is on them to beat us.

I am looking forward to Palace carrying on their good start to the season and building upon it by adding to their points tally.
