Will be a Diversity Hire, thus the party will crash and burn even further.

And if it isn't, half the party will rage about the fact.

cpfc4evandeva 12-12-2019 11:39 PM

Starmer for me.

Definitely possible. Labour need to try and elect someone who can win, you know, an election. That for me rules out Thornberry straight away. I don't mind her, but she is very unpopular outside of the party.

I think it will be a woman.

I’d go for Yvette Cooper but I like Angela Rayner too.

Angela Rayner has even less intellectual capability than Corbyn does.

Has to be a woman, and northern.

When wolfie said a woman, I think he meant an actual woman, not just someone who is a massive ****

The leader is almost irrelevant, it’s the direction and complexion of the party that will determine their fate. That decision has to be resolved first and then get a leader who will deliver it - and that is not solely the remit of the ideologically pure...

Party members seem to be out of step with what the public will vote for.

The leader is completely relevant. If Labour dont learn that now then they can say goodbye to the next election too.

If any new leader looks like Corbyn in high heels and with a northern accent and the same policies, they/we are dead in the water and may well end up splitting.

And considering that membership was significantly boosted by the Corbyn supporting Momentum I struggle to see that changing when they elect a new leader.

I expect a few years of Labour infighting or a Labour party split basically abandoning their democratic duty of opposing the government while they trade punches amongst themselves.

Why? Johnson is neither of those and has smashed the North.

It needs to be Blair Mk II - an election winner. Male or female, Northern or Southern, it doesn't matter. They need to be able to deal with the press, be charismatic, lead the party.

He won't get it, because of the stupid photo of himself he took when he was younger, but my (hopefully still) MP Chris Bryant would be a good leader. He has helped me a lot with the DWP and has campaigned for things that matter to ordinary people.

I still don't think he would get it so I'll stick with Jess Phillips.

I do think that Brexit has helped him massively in the North. A Tory strategist on BBC Wales said that it will be incredibly hard to hold some of their gains, as the candidates have been told on the doorsteps that the voters are only lending their votes due to Brexit and not liking Corbyn. No Brexit next time and, probably, no Corbyn.

I like her but she has been rightly outspoken about Corbyn that too many members hate her to give her a chance.

Also does she even want to be leader?

Big Blue Eagle 13-12-2019 12:56 AM

With the make up of the NEC, plus the complexion of the membership and the long shadow of Uncle Len, they are likely to have a refaced Corbyn junior.
