Andre Marriner

4 League games and 1 FA Cup match so far this season.

How many times are we going to have to put up with him this season?

El Aguila 04-02-2018 11:06 PM

Ooof, he really is not very good at refereeing.

A Wooden Fish On Wheels 04-02-2018 11:11 PM

His failure to award obvious, simple free kicks in the first 30 minutes contributed to Newcastle getting a foothold on the game.

He then appeared to be doing the old 'even it up' trick early in the second half - giving us the benefit in meaningless innocuous places.

Granville 04-02-2018 11:49 PM

He simply looks uninterested as if he has better things to do with his time! Maybe that’s his “style”
Strolls around barely breaking into a jog and makes half arse decisions , he is so annoying to watch when he really should be anonymous

Celestial Empire 04-02-2018 11:56 PM

He's probably been given Clattenburg's gig.:vader:

keltic eagle 05-02-2018 05:32 AM

Wonder whats happened to his boyfriend scott ledger. At least he wasn't running the line. He wouldn't have flagged up the penalty

TomEagle 05-02-2018 07:21 AM

Pretty appalling officiating yesterday

Penstone Eagle 05-02-2018 09:29 AM

Didn't cost us the win though.

disco mixx kidd 05-02-2018 09:30 AM

No that was the poor finishing

disco mixx kidd 05-02-2018 09:30 AM

The ref at Liverpool spurs was terrible to

Ooh Betty 05-02-2018 09:40 AM

Oh for ****s sake. It's the ref's fault again we didn't win.

Pointing out the ref's a pr!ck doesn't mean you're blaming him for our finishing.

His lack of pace was alarming.

He's certainly been given his fake tan.

Shipp Ahoy! 05-02-2018 10:16 AM

Must have been seriously pissed off when his lino flagged for the penalty.

Glare of death probably meant he didn't make that mistake when Shelvey tried to steal McArthur's top towards the end!

Except no-one has said that.

There are 18 referees on the elite list (none to my knowledge with a declared conflict refereeing us) you should get each one 2 or 3 times.

With the rate we have been getting Marriner we are on for 5 or 6 times this season.

Andre Marriner 4
Michael Oliver 4
Kevin Friend 3
John Moss 2
Robert Madley 2
Mike Dean 2
Neil Swarbrick 2
Stuart Atwell 2
Anthony Taylor 1
Lee Mason 1
Martin Atkinson 1
Chris Kavanagh 1
Craig Pawson 1
Paul Tierney 0
Mike Jones 0
Lee Probert 0
Roger East 0
Graham Scott 0

Why do we keep getting the same referees? Over 40% of our games have been done by just 3 referees (16% of the elite list).

Maidstoned Eagle 05-02-2018 01:10 PM

Could be worse....could be Jon Moss

That's stattastic! Marriner and Oliver 4 times each. Both are ***** and both ref is far too many times. Jon Moss only twice though, which is a bonus.

It wasn't so much about whether i think each is good or not, but more about the spread. It maybe that we are getting the better referees each game (not an argument i would make) and that other teams are getting poor officials more.

In terms of fairness throughout the league, surely there should be a similar split of the number of games each official takes charge of for each team (where no conflict exists).

Roger East for example was added to the elite list the same time we were promoted i believe, since then in almost 5 seasons he has refereed us the same number of times as Oliver and Marriner have in less than this full season. Why?

Just have one ref and stagger games through the week so he/she can fit all matches in.
