VAR - Next Season

As I understand it the big screens/scoreboards will alert supporters to the fact that a VAR review is on-going.

Does this mean we will we be getting another screen to include those supporters in the Whitehorse Stand?

I wondered the same thing. Not holding my breath...I mean it's the family stand...and the only place the families can't
"enjoy" the big screen facilities.

Or just a massive mirror above the Holmesdale so we can see what's on the current one? :)

but that would be a mirrored image so offside would be on side and onside would be offside:lux:

I think Wilf will get so many pens awarded that an enterprising journo will christen him Wilfreid ZA-VAR......

xian1 16-05-2019 04:33 PM

Wilfs value is surely enhanced by VAR

From what I heard on the radio earlier about a meeting journalists went to re. the introduction of VAR in the Prem; Man U and Liverpool haven’t got the appropriate screens and are under no obligation to do so. I think all that will flash up on the screen is the decision and not replays of the incident.

Another thing mentioned was that linesman have been instructed to wave their flags as soon as they deem there to be an offside and VAR will intervene if it’s wrong. Players therefore will be told to ignore the linesman’s flag. Should be interesting...

"Play to the whilstle", basically the first thing any young footballer has to learn going into their first match. No good sticking your hand up in the air for an offside like a George Graham back 4... just get on with your job and let the ref and linesman do theirs.

So as a fan who cannot see a screen I will have no idea what is going on at a match that I have paid good money to go and see?

Presume that's why the Whitehorse has the cheapest seats.

No different to the last 100+ years of people watching football live then...

Surely with your username you'll be able to see.

This was a consideration for me in choosing my new seat.

TV audiences are far more important than those of us who bother to turn up.

A new thing for people to moan about. VAR is bound to be seen as biased against Palace.

We've already seen in the Champions League that Ajax were on the end of some dodgy VAR decisions when playing 'bigger' clubs. Certainly not 'clear and obvious' decision.

Fortunately Palace are now seen as an established Premier League team and therefore we seem to get much more even treatment from refs compared to when we first came up. Even Wilf seems to be getting some decisions these days.

Many officials have a sub-conscious bias. It seems to me if Eden Hazard goes over under a challenge from Joel Ward, their default position is it must be a foul unless it's 100% clear it's not, because he plays for Chelsea and he's a top player. If Joel Ward goes over, the default position is it's a good tackle or he tripped himself up, unless it's 100% clear it's a foul.

I was saying that yesterday, 200 mill starting/reserve price. If he goes to a top6 club, that top6 club will win the title
