it's a new one from japan I believe they sound great very bright but also got a nice warm sound I prefer it to the Martin in terms of sound however Initially I found it awkward to play it takes getting used to. Demo here

Anybody out there playing a tenor guitar? I just got one because having learnt the violin at school, I've been playing around for a few years with a mandolin, but for a while I've wanted something in a lower register tuned in 5ths like the mando. Bouzoukis and octave mandolins weren't really speaking to me, then I came across the tenor guitar - originally designed as a transition instrument for banjo players. Never been able to play guitar.

I've currently got it tuned an octave below mandolin (GDAE) which is what I'm aiming for, but it's on the supplied strings which are probably designed to be tuned to CGAE (mandola or viola tuning: 1 string, or a 5th below the mandolin/violin). Still works!!

that is a gorgeous guitar I really want to get a PRS thinking of getting a cherry red Hollowbodied one.

Not a fan of PRS - only because I don't really like the look of them.
However, good enough for Santana, who swapped over from the guitar I use, because the playability is excellent, but they are much lighter. Mine's the Yamaha SG2000, which is a heavy guitar.

I've always found that people who dont like PRS have never disliked the instrument more the style of it which I get you want to play a guitar you feel cool playing however I'm a gibson les paul guy I tried my mates PRS and it blew my les paul out the water in terms of sound and playability.

A month on and my fingers are no longer sore. I have expanded my repertoire and can now play several things very poorly.
I picked up a Blackstar Fly 3 practice amp, seems pretty good for it's size and cost.

Anyone on here left handed, but playing right handed?

I'm half and half - I write left-handed and play darts and snooker that way but play(ed) cricket completely right handed and kick with my right foot.

So basically, delicate things I do left handed, anything requiring brute force I do right handed. Which probably explains my guitar style (which is right handed)...

Anything where the hands need to work as one unit, i am right handed. Otherwise I’m a lefty. I bat right handed, but bowl left in cricket. Golf right handed. I played drums left handed. Darts and snooker left.

Thinking about it, i drink right handed.

I know someone who plays the bass this way easier to fret the strings he says.

My SG2000 is way better than my Les Paul.

Yes. I play left handed guitars, but right handed bass upside down.
But that really came about when I was helping bands out, and used their bass equipment.
I finally bought a left handed bass a few years back, but sold it fairly quickly. I realised I'd have to relearn 45 years of playing. F**k that.

I think it's down to the individual I personally love struggling with the les Paul's. I enjoy the challenge of it that way when I go to play a Tele or strat it just seems effortless. However I dont think I'd find Tele or strat so much easier if I hadn't have been a les paul man for so long. I have however never played an SG. Might have to give it a go.

You're young KC, so you won't remember what truly awful guitars Gibson were churning out in the mid-70s. Mine is '76, and very poor. I will, however, be able to flog it for ludicrous money to an unsuspecting youth who is seduced by the name.
And Strats are Satan's work. Never liked them, never will. :)

I played my granddads 70's es330 awful guitar and I love teles they sound crisper on studio recordings but my favourite barring a les paul are gretsch jet. Great playability great sound. PRS is next on my list I think.

Always had a Tele in the armoury. Mine is an '89.

Just ordered a faith Neptune high gloss electro acoustic. Looks beautiful I'll send some photos.

Another month or so in now, progress still slow, but I am still enjoying it. Love it when I learn a new variation on one of the chords I already know and can recognise it from songs. Was playing around with D sus2/sus4 and immediately thought it sounded like You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory by Johnny Thunders. A sus2/sus4 sounds familiar too, from a Pretenders song, but I haven't worked out which one yet.
