Why were you a big critic?

The boy can play.

How great to see Jairo MOTM on the BBC.

Because whenever I have seen him in first team, U23 and friendlies he always seemed to give off an aura of a distinct lack of interest in being there, rather than trying to prove his worth.

It seems that this time something has stirred within and he has started to enjoy his football and giving his all, and long may it last.

I have to be honest, he's playing much better than I thought he was capable of.

Looks better every time he plays. Looks to be settled and confident which is is great to see ....but that right foot. He only uses it to stand on.

Strange that because at Newcastle wilf didn't seem to like PvA either, both Left Backs who play behind him...

Perhaps they have pulled him about his tracking back.

Thefunkymonk 11-01-2020 02:30 PM

He’s always been a good player.

But he’s playing very well at left back

AJ 11-01-2020 02:32 PM

I would like to see his stats today as i don't recall a poor pass from his feet, he looks a really talented player, as others have said he should be given a chance in midfield.

JAS78 11-01-2020 02:33 PM

Hes really helping us out at the moment

Solid performances at LB

cpfc4evandeva 11-01-2020 02:34 PM

He is a very good footballer.

Brett 11-01-2020 02:36 PM

We swing from toilet to world beater in our opinions so I won't be going overboard other than to say he looks more and more comfortable with each game. And also that it is noticeable that the opposition are targeting Kelly more than Riedewald, which is a compliment to the way he's gone about his business.

carter 11-01-2020 02:43 PM

If there is any positive from the injury list itís the game time Riedewald is getting

norwoodeagle 11-01-2020 02:43 PM

Each game his performances get better. Today he marshalled Pepe really well and his support of the attack was good. He's certainly a footballer and let's hope we can get him playing further forward. A left side of PVA, Jairo and Wilf would be good.

jaspercpfc 11-01-2020 02:46 PM

Pleased for the guy, his emergence in the last month is such a positive story all round. At 23 he is still young, but I still find it slightly concerning that had the regulars been fit Roy wouldn't have used him in any way shape or form and he'd have been regarded as a mercenary and been heading out the door.

andyocpfc 11-01-2020 02:47 PM

The geezer is going from a zero to a hero in a few weeks. He was excellent today. Carry on going like this and it will be hard to bring back in PVA.

I have been a critic too but thought he did well today. Not as well as some of you seem to.

He made a bit of a mess of a ball close to the edge of our box which required a superb defensive block from McCarthy to save us.

Generally good though and certainly looks far more comfortable at left back than he did a few weeks ago.

Danny boy 11-01-2020 02:48 PM

Played well but I would prefer more pace down that left side. Hopefully he gets a chance in central midfield soon.

But who will keep everyone together then?

Stockport_Eagle 11-01-2020 02:51 PM

Get him fully match fit and I think we have a good player on our hands.

I still think PVA walks straight back in to the team when he is fully fit. Jairo's improved form certainly reduces the temptation to rush his recover though.
