Theresa May - Conservative Leader

I find it it slightly strange we have a 500+ page thread on the leader of the Labour party.

Surely her poll ratings will fall. She's incompetent, elitist and going to oversee the biggest disaster this country has had in decades.

I didnt have any, but it's strange that it almost certainly won't be given the damage she is doing.

I apologise. I was making the same point as Matthew, but a little more subtly.

Now if I was really taking the piss I would have said typical left wing of Labour, want to bring up a topic of interest, yet somehow spectacularly shoot themselves in the foot at the outset ;)

SE25 exile 08-04-2017 09:13 AM

She actually hasn't done anything yet, apart from her A50 letter which got the UK off on the wrong foot right at the start. She speaks in vacuous, often reckless soundbites, and flip flops too readily.

Very good :D

On topic. She's awful. She can't believe her luck that she's up against Corbyn.

I am a little astonished at the polling based on performance. There's so much that's wrong as a characteristic for leadership, even ignoring the policies. She's a complete control freak. Cannot delegate at all. That alone leads to bad government. It's a recipe for cluster****.

She is the only Political leader who can be trusted to deliver Brexit , Hence why she is being given an easy ride by the electorate .
Once Brexit is achieved she will be history and replaced by the Tories for a softer leader , Hopefully the Selfish Social Libs and loony left who have alienated themselves from the Majority of normal hardworking Brexit voters will have been ousted by Labour and set up their own self-righteous minority Party .

If that Brexit point were true you would see UKIP losing far more votes to the Tories than they are doing currently. They've lost some but not that many, and around the same have gone back the other way.

She's primarily polling well because there is no credible opposition.

Here he is. The left winger who wants May as a safe pair of hands to deliver Brexit. You couldn't make it up.

She's a Christian fundamentalist - perhaps its why she's popular at the moment - she'll be found out over Europe - there is uneasy peace at the moment - but wait until she has to deal with forces of reaction in her party...

Biggineagle 08-04-2017 09:58 AM

You had best get posting then cockerknee. Bearing in mind Corbin wont be a leader for much longer it may give you a chance to catch up slightly..

I trust every single political leader to deliver Brexit. Do the A50 letter, wait 2 years, job done. Even Screaming Lord Sutch or Sandi Toxvig could manage that.

It's how much she can leverage for her cronies at the expense of the people who voted for Brexit that will be her epitaph.

Oh I see, you are suggesting that more intelligent politicians would cancel Brexit once they realised that a deal was undeliverable?

Clapham Rover 08-04-2017 10:09 AM

I'm not quite sure why she's taking as much stick as she is on this thread. She's not my cup of tea politically and I'll never vote tory but I think she has shown decent smarts taking the tory leadership and then defining a new look to the tory party - this whole inclusive, interventionist, workers-on-the-boards "Birmingham Conservatism" thing. None of it will actually happen because the tories cannot defy their corporate masters but the presentation is smart and has completely erased the toffs toryism of Caneron and Osborne. She's sitting on a 10-15% poll lead and her party is right behind her. It looks like we're also pulling in our horns from more stupid Cameronian random bombing of the middle east and north Africa.

So far, so very good as a political operator.

Making it up again.
Why don't you instead of attaching yourself to Traditional Labour like the rest the selfish middle class bitter remainers and social Lib loons have done , Form your own little minority party where you can dream of and try to sell the electorate some false working class EU utopia ( Goodluck with that lol ), While the rest of the left wing working class get on with there lives in the real world and don't undermine the Labour party continually .
No one is going to vote for a Labour party that reflects your views ;)

To be fair , she has had the biggest gift ever in having corbyn as the opposition leader, labour lurch from one laughing stock calamity to another on a weekly basis. The tories should be getting hammered given their reversion back to true blue policies. But corbyn and the currentlabour party are so out of touch with their voters , may as an alternative is preferable to many . Quite depressing ..
