Currys/Dixons.digital or whatever they are called now.

And WH Smith.

Neither have reacted to the net.

Clinton's Cards and the like must be suffering from competition from supermarkets

currys/dixons/pc world have reacted to the net, far more competitive nowadays and also good price matching (+10% of the difference)

Harrods would be my choice. And Polo would be my choice of clothing.

PC World perhaps - but you go into a Curry's store and the prices are still way too high. I bought my mum a microwave from Amazon for 150, which was 220 in currys.

I recently bought all new appliances for my kitchen - got them all off the internet. Saved at least 400.

WH Smiths makes (or did used to make) a lot of its money through newspaper and magazine distribution to other shops

Zavvi are screwed. Virgin got out at the right time and sold the company on for a quid.

No fulfillment on the website either at the moment due to EUK going down with Woolies.

DSG in a pickle too but I think that they'll pull through - xmas and all that.

BHS - Phillip Green, Surely not?

M&S seem to be ticking along ok.

Gotta be Zavvi for me.

Currys will price match on various retailers, not amazon though.

Is there a reason for that? Will they match online prices in-store?

As a decent outsider how about ToysRUs. Rumour has it they are being heavily subsidised by the American parent company right now.

I thought Mr Branson was providing some finance for them. At least he was until recently, to help them through their troubles.

kitticat 18-12-2008 11:38 AM

Are HMV still doing ok? I stopped shopping there when when they stopped selling vinyl :(
