I don't think it's too much of a surprise that Clinton Cards is in the shit considering the prices they charge when you have shops like Card Factory charging a lot less. If they were to pride themselves on great customer service then they might not lose quite so much, but they don't.

Do American Greetings make & sell cards by any chance and is this a nifty quick way to eliminate competition before moving in on the UK card market?

A friend of mine founded Moonpig. He was amazed that Clintons did not come in and make a serious offer in the early days of the business. Still, he isn't complaining now!

I wonder if they do a 'Sorry you're going under card'

They are ridiculously over priced

Stavros 69 09-05-2012 01:01 PM

Card factory and their inability to transition online killed the business.

I like funky pigeon, cheap card, p+p free.

Thomas cook probaly mentioned before but their latest statement that alot is hinging on late bookings coming up trumps if their new restructed loans are to be honoured does not inpire confidence.
Also Santander bank uk as an outside bet given the euro crisis and their spanish property exposure.

Any company whose logo is a steaming red turd deserves to go under.

I ran down my Santander bank a/c this week to just 8 [still think of it in terms of Abbey National). That by the way; but glad I got pension paid into the Post Office and not that bank.

Going down the pan a slow and painful demise, trying to get rid of half of the sites to avoid going tits up, trying to slash the rents on the remaining Gyms.

Huge amount of debt.
