Timothy Castagne

Barely worthy of a thread but there are some quotes in there and we could be in need of a new right back soon !

If we get £50 million then he would be a great shout. Can play right or left at the back and also has an attacking mind to work the line.

Would really like this to happen if we have to replace AWB. He did bits for Atalanta last season and has broken into the Belgium team too.

GB2506 12-06-2019 11:37 AM

Very good player who had an excellent season for Atalanta who qualified for the Champions League and got to the Copa Italia final. Pretty sure they knocked Juve out, beating them 3 or 4 nil. Would cost a good £20-£25millon and would be hard to entice him away from the prospect of champions league football.

I reckon 13-15 million will do it. Are they even guaranteed champ league spot? Think they may have to qualify for the group stages.

they finished 3rd so automatically qualified.

Think he'd be more in the range of £15m max, which is a good price. Has been linked with Celtic too, so wouldn't expect that'd be looking to pay anything near that kind of price.

Dom Fifield reporting the same in his latest article on AWB.

Yes please.

£8-£12m offered to Celtic so wouldn’t pay much more. Other positions which need money spent on (I.e. Striker) are more important. Joel Ward demonstrated he’s pretty competent in that position still.

Competent yes, first choice right back? Not so sure.

Should be great at 8-12m, given flexibility.
Plenty in the pot still to play with if we get 50m plus for AWB
One would assume

Highlights on line are often not much of a guide ( but they generally show the players better moments ) . Didn't look that special really and very few defensive moments shown .

I just cant see him giving up a season in the champs league.....

Difficult to understand isn't it? Yet, enough 'chatter' to suggest he is considering it (a move, if not necessarily to us). Strange, CL seems all some players talk about.

Having said that, he only seems to have started half the games for Atalanta last season? And he would earn a lot more in the Prem.

Listening to Paulo Bandini on the Guardian Football Weekly podcast numerous times this season, Atalanta have one of the smallest budgets in Italy and the fact they qualified for the Champions League was a minor miracle. The riches of the Premier league would be a huge draw to him.

Interestingly he played the vast majority of last season at LWB (scored against Juve in the 3-0 copa Italia quarter final win), even though he is naturally a RB. Atalanta play with Wing Backs and have Hans Hatabouer, a Dutch international in their squad who plays on the right. Castagne would be a very good replacement for AWB and could even play LB if PvA has one of his dodgy runs in the side.

Is CL all they talk about? I think for a huge majority of players its money. Or should I say the Agents talk. Kante left Leicester for Chelsea who werent in CL and Leicester were.CL may be an attraction but I doubt its no1 on their lists

I said some players but I would agree on money money money being the ultimate alure. (Though joining Chelsea sort of guarantees CL football on a moderately regular basis tbf).

Regular game time in the premier league over champs league. If he shows his worth then a champs league team will come in for him soon enough. If AWB goes i expect he will sign not long after
