Reports of in-fighting between rival sets of Palace fans

I didn't go to yesterday's game but there are several reports of fighting breaking out, before, during and on the train home between 2 sets of Palace fans, leading to arrests.

I know it's mentioned on the matchday thread but I don't want it buried there as I believe it needs bringing out in the open, discussed as to causes, resolved and buried so there is no repetition.

Palace has always been a family club, when an away game was a particular enjoyable experience, where we could take kids, be as one etc etc. I don't want that image tarnished/individuals reluctant to make the journey and follow our team.

Worksop Palace 21-11-2021 09:18 AM

Fkin ridiculous is what it is.

A total guess on my part but coked up dickheads would be a good place to start looking I’d suggest.

Palace43 21-11-2021 09:21 AM

Lot’s of reports of a young woman being hit is what instigated the fighting.

Yeah we had a fella tell us his other half had been punched and the lady backed it up. As I got off at Euston I saw the same blokes have a pop at others. Separately, before the game it went off, which we saw and could not work out why.

All very Millwall-esque. I like a bit of edge, but seeing Palace fighting each other over the course of the day was embarrassing and sad to see.

Nth Kent Eagle 21-11-2021 09:30 AM

Seemed to go on for quite some time on the concourse before the game.

After all the shit we've gone through the last 12 months you'd think people would be glad to go back to a game of football. Muppets.

Seems odd. Could it be rival fans with Palace colours on ?

Yes there seems to be a contingent of absolute wankers in our away support.

Whilst we’re having this group therapy session, can I request that we retire the “can you hear the x team sing, nooo…” and “oh South London, is wonderful…” songs.

They’re ******* shit.

Millwall away to Middlesbrough yesterday. Didn’t know if it was at a train station or on a train. Looks like it was on a train so that would have to be some pretty good undercover work from that lot.

Can't comment on what happened at Euston as I wasn't there but the stuff before the game has definitely been blown out of proportion.

HF v addo boys? Crazy

cpfc4evandeva 21-11-2021 10:04 AM

Back of the stand yesterday near the Burnley fans, I think me and my brother were the only ones who hadn't taken something.

What I found more weird was the 2 times I went for a piss (my bladder has about as much stamina as Jordon Mutch these days), there were a couple of groups in the concourse just hanging around. I can't really understand why you would travel all that way, go into the ground, then not even bother watching the game. What's the point?

Tktboy 21-11-2021 10:08 AM

Apparently, the addo were throwing around a lot of racist comments, people, rightly took offense.

No place for racism at Palace

HF were on a coach as they were in our escort out of Burnley after the game. But was definitely something in the air yesterday as I saw pockets of minor incidents all over the place involving different fans old and young.

Who/what is the addo?

Joe.L 21-11-2021 10:27 AM

As just said by another poster, definitely something in the air yesterday as there were a number of incidents in the ground before the game, at half time, on the train to Preston and at Euston. Pretty sure they weren't all connected either which makes it even more strange.

Zohar's Penalty 21-11-2021 10:28 AM

Hard to picture this as I’ve been to my fare share of away days and never once seen anything like this happen.

Talk on twitter of ongoing feud between two groups? All sounds very childish. Surely this is not the case?

How old were these fans? There were some quite boisterous coked up 18 year olds at Arsenal sat just along from me, but they seemed pretty scrawny and harmless.

I’ve never had to fight or get into a big argument about it, but I’ve always hated when people will just try barge in wherever they want on away days. The option to pick your seat exists for a reason, chances are that I’ve put thought into where I would have a good view.

I’m young and can stand up for myself, of course it’s ten times worse if it’s say an elderly person, a child, or a woman who can be intimidated.

They’re banking on people being too intimidated to ask them to move. Glad you sent them packing.

Mr Bo Jangles 21-11-2021 12:12 PM

One was the HF at Brighton. Just didn’t want to get into confrontation with them. Fortunately they left a large trance of seats at the back with a better view so went there.

jmemour 21-11-2021 12:15 PM

Was embarrassing to see yesterday. I was right next to the fighting on the Burnley to Preston train and I couldn’t even work out why the fight was happening. It seemed to be previous but everyone had waited half an hour for that train, it would’ve been easy for the two sets of people to just avoid each other, someone somewhere was looking for it.

Also the amount of cocaine done at football is a joke. It’s not even hidden any more, I can’t even understand why you need it, is Palace not exciting enough as it is without needing to be charged up out of your head?

This needs to be nipped in the bud. Found it really sad to see it yesterday, I never ever had Palace down as that kind of club. We’re a family club. Open, welcoming and passionate. We are not Millwall.

Unfortunately the club have encouraged this behaviour by giving them an elevated status amongst supporters.

This has happened ever since all seater stadia were introduced - happened to us loads of times over the years - wouldn't have anyway of knowing whether any of them were HF - many of them wouldn't even have been born in the 1990s anyway

I thought it was a very strange mood yesterday and the folk involved in the pre match concourse scuffle were faces I'd certainly never seen at away days before. Having seen their general vibe I would assume they weren't too far away from the Euston incidents as well

I have been travelling since 1984 only had two instances this one loved their line when told them move “we are holmesdale fantastic we can sit where we like”.

The other time was a midweek game away at old Trafford and they had not sold the allocation so the wankers had roped off an area and not told anyone that seats were no longer allocated and my 8 month pregnant sister got in an argument about seats with two pissed up blokes, my mates ex bird was there flashed her warrant card and it sorted it out.

Who - the racist twats that come out of the woodwork at away games? The pissed old blokes who like goading away supporters? The ones who go all the way to some northern town and sing *** is a ****hole I want to go home? The sad old gits who think it's funny singing 'get your tits out for the lads' at young girls?

Or maybe you're just talking about the group of young fans who got together to try and make the atmosphere at games a bit better.

So in the last 37 years of following Palace away these are the only two times you've seen twattish behaviour from Palace fans?

bonzo 21-11-2021 12:27 PM

The HF have organised sections at most away games which is good but does inevitable encourage other groups of young lads to try and 'squeeze in' near them in other people's seats.
Away games should be unreserved seating in my opinion but know the logistics would be hard when all games sold out.
Does seem if anything happens with any fans under the age of 35 it gets branded as HF.
Bet they're glad they was on a coach yesterday so can't be blamed for this latest one but no doubt some will still try.

redeagle 21-11-2021 12:28 PM

Just to agree that the mood was very coke fueled and not the usual away day experience. This was my first away trip since lockdown so wasn’t sure if this was out of the ordinary or just how it is now. I preferred it how it used to be.

Games like Burnley Everton hull boro away it's easy to get tickets for fans who rarely go .in a way that's why loyalty points helps don't think this would happen at say Brentford Southampton away where it's generally the same fans who have been going away for years without problems on the whole.

LeoFender sounds like a complete bellend. Looks to me like it was one group effectively kicking off with everyone else.

Oli28 21-11-2021 01:11 PM

First 'proper' northern away game for a couple of years, combined with a generally more hostile society than we had pre-pandemic and a football culture that is far more openly linked with cocaine-use meant yesterday was always likely to be a bit different to the experience we usually have.

Still, the atmosphere before/during/after the game was noticeably more tense than I've seen at palace and reminded me more of what it felt like being in Wembley over summer. Chucking coins and spitting over the divide is just cowardly.

Firstly would like to say what a game,

But the amount of fighting yesterday, it’s totally terrible, this ain’t palace at all.

The tention between HF & Addo just can’t be missed, soon as they walk in the pub it just goes off, every time lately home and away, keeps happening, a few racist comments throw by addo boys and goes mental this needs to stop.
All the fighting in the ground again was between these to set of groups, we need to sort this or ban them all disrespect men/boys,
Personally had enough and won’t be attending any more games until sorted.

Summed up well. From my own work, the general public just seem far more up for an argument than before covid. I'm not sure on why it has changed people, but it's definitely there.

Add in drugs and you'll get what happened yesterday.

LN1 21-11-2021 05:05 PM

I have to say this all came as a surprise when I got home due to not seeing anything yesterday but i was sat right at the front and travelled Leeds way home not Manchester/Euston. There where several police cars blue lighting it towards the cricket club on the walk in and just sighed that I would be fan trouble?

Not sure on this hf addo thing and wouldn't be able to tell a addo from any otherr young lads but yesterday was different...people of all ages and even genders going at it...We saw two 'ladies' being pulled apart in the toilet queue for a unknown reason and also a group of near pensioner age blokes in the cricket club going at it but have since been told these may have been Burnley.

Even if some of yesterday was HF Addo it will make up a small percentage of what went down as shown by the train incident which was apparently started by a loud women.

Its not just football i've noticed a heavy unrest in people of all ages and genders since reopening...people's inner anger have been exploading.

How will you know it's sorted if you don't attend games?

I was there and unfortunately witnessed all the fights, can't comment on the train incidents as was not present

Not true.

What? Are you a tory politician from the 80s??

This isn't what Palace are about and never has been, nor should it be.

Isn't that often the case.

I suspect a lot of us have even have the less loud type, who can't seem to keep their mouths shut and spoil quite harmonious situations - like having a meal and at the end telling the waiting staff the service was a bit slow or the fries aren't quite right. I just get up and leave when that happens these days.

Let alone the real chavvy, noisy ones that seem to get the partners embroiled in this. Feck being partnered to that.

The wrong sorts have always appeared at certain away games. Places like Luton and Watford were always good for that. Coming across real scummers that you haven't seen before. It is like they are a club and they pick a game a season or every couple of seasons. Perhaps they alternatively go to the races, clubbing, or some med holiday.

Not sure where they get off with racist shite when you see the make up of our team, and the most exciting players in it.

Yes your probably correct here, But as you can see they have got a massive part in this, I did see some what happened in cancourse which I think werent them but in cricket ground there was something,
The most embarrassing thing about our younger generation of fans is the drugs, they do this and want to fight eachother, it needs to be sorted.

Ooh look another new poster trying to insinuate it was all the fault of the youngsters. Seems there are a lot of people trying to point the finger. Perhaps to cover up their own part in it?

Nth Kent Eagle 21-11-2021 07:25 PM

Definitely seems there were multiple incidents and not all the protagonists were the same. There did seem to be a lot of drinking yesterday with bars like the cricket club busy surprisingly early.

Because that’s how away games have always been, especially back when we were shit.

Tktboy 21-11-2021 07:34 PM

So what's the truth about Euston? Gobby girl causing shit? Or spinless twat slapping a girl? Or both?

Nasty little clan, around Addington area. Have heart and some fight in them, as witnessed against their attack on the Spurs pub at Wembley a few seasons back, but let down massively by racist tendencies and so frankly, they can **** off.

Oi , when referencing Addo it’s with a capital A , I’ll let you off this time but anymore of this and I’ll send the boy’s round .

Hedgehog 21-11-2021 07:41 PM

As an aside, were there some Palace fans in the Burnley end?

It just seems when Palace score their 3 goals at that end the players seemed to gravitate towards an certain area at that end even to the point of looking at a particular area.

It seemed a bit more than just celebrating the goal at the wrong end... or maybe it just was.

Not sure it would have gone down too well if the away team celebrated like that in front of the Holmesdale.

Also, how can you support Palace and have "racist tendencies"... it does not compute, unless it was against Asians specifically?

Whilst we’re having this group therapy session, can I request that we retire the “can you hear the x team sing, nooo…” and “oh South London, is wonderful…” songs.

They’re ******* shit.

Don't sing them then.

Back when there were 1500 empty seats in most away ends? Tbf I do agree that it used to be the case that people would go anywhere, particularly when you couldn't pick your seats, but it's only fair that people move if the person who bought that seat wants to sit in it

LesPaul 21-11-2021 07:53 PM

As somebody who saw and know a few involved I think all you lot are letting your biases get in the way. The HF behaved like ***** started on a select group then even lamped a few who didn't know them but thought they did. Naturally once they lamped people not associated there groups gave them a hiding to. Once HF realised they look like ***** they made up a racist story and run with it to justify the fact that they targeted random people. HF need to drop this far left shite they are basically giving it to random people who they don't like the look and usually getting slapped back. Naturally the winners are always the bad guys and the HF always lose.

Letting your bias get the better of you, methinks. Oh and 80% utter bollocks fella

CP-RJW 21-11-2021 07:58 PM

I must've missed the HF becoming "far left."

Burnley’s main singing section and the away fans are next to each other in the same end. Is that what you mean?

Guess not, I meant the end opposite where the Palace fans were, and the end Palace scored their 3 goals.
