Any idea what sort of formation this will be?
|
I assume its the Nigerian player (Oluwatunmise Sobowale) whose brother is at Man City.

Cheers guys, the live feed is up https://eagles.cpfc.co.uk/live-stream/

Quite a bright start. So far
Perri - comfortable on the ball Sako - causing problems Ridewald - looks ridiculously slow |
Lumeka and more so Flanagan, look neat and tidy with the ball. The LB (Mitchell?) also gets himself into good positions.
Great catch and throw out by Perri and a Sako blaze wide the highlights so far :D |
Sako! :)
|
Sako goal :)
|
How do I rewind
|
Good stuff
|
Quote:
Lumeka and Flanagan definitely the pick of the bunch re: youngsters. |
Nice play from Lumeka and Flanagan on the goal. Basically a tap in for Sako, but still, he had to be there.

Just me or are the U23s quite good?

Our no 5 looks good, takes no prisoners.
|
With that said, Palace have a stronger than usual team today, and Ipswich have recently started using more young players in their first team, which leads to their team being a little weakened.
|
Did any of the Ipswich team play for them against us in the League Cup last season? They played a lot of youngsters that day who acquitted themselves well (iirc).

Palace have been in the top 3 for months and they won the league last season.
Some of our loan players still feature for Palace in Under 23 matches. Today's opponents Ipswich have only lost twice all season. Palace lead 1-0 at the break COYP |
Thanks bullet.

This half time music is doing my nut in.....
|
Perri is a unit but looks assured. Flanagan looks good. Left back they're raving about looks terrible. But it's only one half.

Perri one time played the ball to Mitchell who was under big pressure. Another time he played the ball straight to Ipswich close to our box. But otherwise, he's been solid.
|
1-1 - good goal tbf

Ipswich looking much better than us second half. |
|
Brilliant goal by them but could Perri have done better? It was top corner but he had plenty of time to see it coming and didn't appear to jump very high. Being super picky but these guys all want to be striving for top level right? Otherwise he's looked good and strong with his feet...plus plenty of talking to the guys which is nice to see.
Otherwise, like the look of no.5 who looks very strong and assured on the ball and no.9. whos direct and quick at goal. Not convinced with Jairo...maybe he's not fussed as he's been put in this team and not the 1st 11 but he should be standing out a little I would have thought. |
What exactly was that pen given for?

2-2. Great run from BP and a nice finish from Flanagan.
|
2-2 Flanagan. Nice move
|
2-2. No.9 doing well again driving at their defence. Is the Lumeka??
|
Quote:
Quite like the look of him, nice and direct. |
Cracking goal.
|
3-2. Rob Street in off the bar - great work from Lumeka again.
|
Great finish by Street, 3-2.
What a way to spend Monday afternoon |

End to end stuff in the last 20 minutes

Tavares and Woods have looked solid at CB. |
4-2 og - cracking chip over the keeper.

Age of BP? |
4-2. OG after a heavy touch from Rob Street.
But once again, great work from Lumeka and Pierrick. |
4-3 - FT. (shit defending)
|
4-3. FT.

Street is very promising.
|
What an enjoyable game
|
Did the Ipswich OG come from a guy called N'Dah?
|
Great result that, well done lads. Better after the 'senior' players went off!

We need to give Flanagan another contract please
|
Tavares and Woods both remind me of Scott Dann - not blessed with pace, but very physical, strong CBs.
Lumeka, Flanagan and Pierrick the standouts for me. Was impressed with Street for the very short time he was on as well. |
Flanagan and Lumeka played very well and would get a chance before JR who looked half arsed in the first half lots of promise from the other lads including the keeper who likes playing the ball out . Ipswich have lots of quality the first goal was top class a very enjoyable match.

Entertaining match. Liked the direct approach that lead to the last two Palace goals.

There is definitely a talent there and I hope we persist with him |

How do Ipswich have such a good U23 side but such a shite 1st team ?

In the end this game had an exciting finish. I do have to say though that fans seem now to be treated abomiably for wishing to watch th u23s. Having parked up in Copers Cope road I was then dircted right round the grounds past the Kent cricket ground and directed into a tiny corner taped off from the rest of the facility in which to watch, No hance of refreshment, no toilet facilies that I could see and a truly grotty angle to watch the game from, perish the thought no teamsheet either. Since I was also charged nothing the impression was that they dont expect supporters to even turn out Agents and scouts got to go in the main entrance. Nice! Two lovely finishes from the young centre forward but our players seemed to go through th motions a bit today

I thought they had banned spectators due to pilfery tbh.. Much better would be to play at somewhere like Croydon Athetic, or indeed Tooting and Mitcham, I did used to watch the ressies at plough lane, but admittedly that was 25 years ago and now, sadly knocked down |
From the stream, Flanagan looked good and Brandon Pierrick full of running.. trialist not too shabby
Brighty pulls no punches! |

Just been reading up on Flanagan - didn't realise he plays for Rep of Ireland. Following in the footsteps of the great Jerry Murphy :)
|

They'll probably go down, but might bounce straight back up. |
Any reason why Kian Flanagan does not go out on loan? Looks like a good player who could benefit from some "real football".
|
Boy, that Perri is a big lad... might be bordering on too big.

Had to smile at the Brandon Pierrick interview... Apparently not a Palace fan growing up judging by the smile on his face when pushed.
|
I thought our marking was piss poor

Not a mathematician either ;) |

Thought Flannagan had a very good finish for his goal but not convinced by his defensive game from what I saw. Some work to do there maybe? Lumeka is someone who could do well. Does some good stuff but I get the impression Palace want to see it more often? Need to tease it out of him! Trialist came on at right back. Defensively naive, perhaps not yet 'football fit' but did some good stuff going forward. Thought Street had a natural forward's instinct and timing in the time he was on. |

Really enjoy hearing Brighty's commentary and insight. |
Lumeka looks excellent in these clips.
Can he make the first team bench as cover for Wilf & Andros? |
