2 Major Signings This Week
It has been quoted in many press stories that Palace will unveil 2 major signings once Steve Bruce has officially been unveiled as the new Palace manager later this week.
So, has anybody got any clues who these signings could be, some say they will be the biggest in the club's history? |
Can't see any new signings being bigger than the Lombardo signing. As mentioned on another thread Koumas & Mooney are strong favourites for the new signings
|
Fingers crossed I hope you are right EAGLE,we could do with some great news for a change,we have had our fair share of crap,if not more than our fair share..........SGE

I reckon one will be Campbell that played for Middlesboro. |
Andy Cambell from Middlesbrough has been mentioned on the BBC Web pages (I think it was?). He is 22 and apparently excellent. As for who the other one might be not sure.
Eagle who did say they will be the biggest in the Clubs History? Bigger than Lombardo? or Bigger than Julian Gray? |

not a bad player |
Dwight Yorke and Dennis Irwin.
|
Irwin and Greening
|
Irwin? maybe.
Yorke? Now we're being silly again. ------------------ This is Dougie Freedman... And he's gone right the way through... Would you believe it!!! |

Allegedly:
Koumas is due to have a medical with Ipswich after the Wales game, the clubs have agreed a £3m fee. Apparantley he is a renowned boozer in his home town and despite having a very sick mother it would appear beneficial for him to get away from his mates !!!! Sounds like he'll definitely join Everton then. |
I actually happen to know who they are but I am unable to tell you at the current moment
|
I don't really, but it would be nice if I did

I hope it is Andy Campbell from Boro' even though though he looks like Paul Scholes viewed through a pint glass.
Can't help but think one of them might be an ex-Huddersfield centre back Kenneth something or other... Reading have released Caskey so I hope we get him too. |

Biggest signings in the club's history, is that pre administration, Crystal Palace 1986 Ltd or post administration, Crystal Palace 2000 Ltd?
http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/wink.gif ------------------ Hey, Bruce, stay out of my club! |
are we talking biggest players as in size or reputation, cos ruddock was definately the biggest, and hes in obscurity now so that rules out a ruddock return then, fat git! as for a sensible shot in the dark irwin could be a definate, they were good mates at man u, and andy booth maybe , a high earner last season and a luxury for huddersfield now .dont know if that qualifies for the biggest in our history nut quality players nonetheless
|
I'm only going by what a reporter was saying, not sure of his name, and we all know sometimes reporters hype up things.
I think all we can safely say is that there will be 2 major signings made within the next week, whoever they are we shall have to wait and see. |
|
Gary Pallister and ...
Steve Bruce, back out of retirement!!! |
Caskey, Koumas, mooney or rod wallace have got to be the favourites.

Tony Adams is one for sure. You may even hear about him tomorrow.
The other is a little trickier If he's just big in name and reputation then it could be Des Walker but I'll stick my neck out and say it's probably Ravanelli http://ubb.fanasylum.com/smiles/fart.gif http://www.plauder-smilies.de/lmaa.gif |
Bumgas.
Where is this information from? |

So its a guess as opposed to having any hint of fact?
Not that guesses are bad, just like to know. Your Adams statement seemed pretty definite. |

I concede the others are pure calculated estimates. http://ubb.fanasylum.com/smiles/fart.gif http://www.plauder-smilies.de/lmaa.gif |
This is no more than a guess, but, Steve Bruce was impressed by Clyde Wijnhard when he played for Huddersfield, remember a couple of seasons back where he and Stewart ripped us apart. Wjinhard is a good striker, I reakon he could be one of the two transfer targets....... I reakon the other could be Jason Koumas...

I reckons it's Mooney and Forrsell myself. If I'm wrong I'll wash my hair!

Give us a clue then? |
Brian Deane is one, not sure about the other???
|
....the other one could be Dennis Wise????
|
Phil Stamp and Noel Whelan, according to the Boro BBS..
------------------ PALACE TILL I DIE  |
Bloody signature.
|
Phil stamp is just another Pollock style player who is bloody ugly.
Matt Carbon perhaps? (I liked past tense!!) Brian Deane particularly during season 92/93 when we were heavily linked with him. I don't know how old he is but I can't imagine he's very mobile now. all will soon be unveiled |
Don't dismiss the Tony Adams rumour.... I heard he was targetted for player-coach a month ago.
|
What about John Hartson. He was quoted today saying that he expected he would be leaving Coventry.
|
If any of..
Adams Stamp Ravanelli Whelan Koumas Wise Join Palace I shall be absolutely jubilant. |
Quote:
Phil Stamp is a big pie*, we will hopefully never sign anyone who plays or looks like him. The worst footballer in any of the four proffesional leagues. *as in Pie Face from 'Beano' comics. |

I disagree Zonin.
It is especially rich coming from you, Sean Gregans mum. |
A Chelsea supporting friend of mine (no, he doesn't come from Croydon) spotted SJ and Dennis Wise having a coffee on th Kings Road a couple of weeks ago. Now it all starts to make sense.
|
Not sure I believe the Dennis Wise rumour, but if true I hope he brings Poyet ... those'd be quite big signings!!!:)
|
Now that Cantona's getting into coaching, perhaps his old mate Bruce might just......
|
Continuing the Chelsea rumours, hopefully Forssell might be coming back on a permanent signing.
|
Anyway, last time we were promised a big name signing we got Hermann Hreidarrson - a massive 18 letters...
Still, wouldn't mind him back now...;) |
Please, not Dennis Wise!!!
|
I can't help feeling there is a link between the 2 major signings and Des Walker refusing a new contract at Sheffield Weds. If he's put on enough weight, this would account for both signings!
|
Footballunlimited claims that Sheff Wed can't afford to offer Des Walker a new contract, so he's being released.

If Ravanelli can move to Derby then anything is possible.
PS. Cool new format. But BRING BACK THE STARS!!! :blue: |
Is Irwin out of contract at Man U then? Would his wages be astronomical? How old is he?
|
My concern is that we will spend huge amounts of money on someone who is not worth that much. I have heard from a Huddersfield supporter and it has been said on other threads that Bruce was a bit careless at Huddersfield and spent too much on players and wages. With SJ giving him £9million what could he be like then?

Just wondering if Mark Hughes has hung his boot's up yet.
I would imagine him and bruce are quite pally. Even though he's knocking on a bit, i would think he could do a job for us. |
Brian Robson will probably be free on Saturday afternoons shortly too...;)
|
Quinton Fortune is on the transfer list at Man Utd for £3,000,000!!!
 |
One thing surely that is good to come from Bruce is his United connections. Fortune and Irwin???
|
norman whiteside and Gary Bailey :clown:
|
what about
fortune £3 million irwin £ 1 million (i know but hes old) gus poyet £2.5 million dennis wise £2 million and forsell £3.million there u go 11.5 million over spent already stevie bruces red'n'blue army:) :) :) :) :) :) :) |
Irwin's on a free but i doubt he'll move the family south which is a pity.
|
I do not believe they have actually found the two players yet. Let's face it when has the club ever kept quiet over a deal ? Asaba perhaps, Koumas maybe ! or could it be that they have learnt from their past mistakes ? Now that would be a turn up wouldn't it.
|
Well I certainly hope Wise AIN'T coming ! :(
I'd be very very surprised if Tony Adams joined Palace (but happy) whilst it sounds like Des Walker is off to Watford (thankfully !). Certainly (when he's fit again) I could see Bruce moving for Wijnhard, who won't play in the second division. I still think that Chris Lucketti will be a target too, and here's hoping (as I'm fond of harping on about !!) that we can get someone like Jonathan Greening who would be absolutely perfect as that "attacking central midfielder" that we're crying out for !! Oh - maybe Nico Vaesen will be a target as well .... I realise that most of these don't qualify as big signings, but I can see SB being interested in them. Apparently he's also a fan of Paul Evans (central midfielder) at Brentford and I can also see Terry B recommending a couple of their players now that we have a manager. |
Lets hope that we have one final effort to get Forsell.....might need Chelsea to sign another forward first.
An go to Tranmere, try for Koumas and Parkinson. |
I cant see Adams coming. I'm sure I've heard that this is to be his last season so why would he spend it at Palace when he has the opportunity to play his whole career out at Arsenal? Would be an amazing feat in this day and age.

From glimpses of last year it would look like the squad is strong enough to put in some good performances and therefore it seems pointless to rush out and sign players for the sake of it. I would give Bruce, Kember and Bullivant a couple of months to settle down, allow the players to prove themselves and then see what the situation is. There is enough quality in the current squad to get in to contention for the play-offs so come on Brucie show us what you can so........what do points make?! |

Just in from CP FRIS,

Irwin and Koumas, thats what im praying for.
Nico Vaesen - NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO, where have those sleeping pills gone. |
vaesson can't be a major signing. and this has been promised since way b4 sb
|
hopefully Wihnhard as he sounds like a great buy, but is he injured at the moment or something?
a playmaker would be great, like Koumas, but i think he'll go to ipswich. otherwise Hayles would be another fantastic buy and with his inevitable 20 odd goals we should cruise in to the playoffs!!! :D |
From the local press here in deepest darkest Gillingham (wash my mouth out) territory, the Gills are after Shipps...who is supposedly unhappy at Barnsley and is possible on the move. I know we all at some stage slagged him off, but think he may do a good job for us again??
:D |
These are not the two biggest signings for the club, but I think Bruce will definately try and get Nico Vaesen and Lucketti to sign for us before the new season.
|
Methinks Nico Vaesen and Chris Lucketti but they're hardly major.
|
Some one tell Bruce ,Kolinko's every bit as good as Nico.
Were already throwing money away. Let get players in positions we need !! |
Two big signings (biggest in clubs history apparently) would suggest either foreigners or dropping down from the Prem, more likely to be foreign id have thought, or maybe veterans like Irwin and Adams? My guess is as good as all yours on this one im afraid.:blue:
|
Well I'll go for Koumos and Adams.
Later on, maybe Irwin and another foreward or two. If Barry Hayles is available, then go for him. Looks like Forsell is beyond us now......:( |
I wonder if the Aloisi fanciers saw his sub appearance in Oz 1-France 0 ?
He was incredibly slow, ineffectual and ponderous, and took a yellow for diving in the area - No thanks ! |
shame that, could have been an excellant signing. :blue:
|
Crystal Palace boss Steve Bruce hopes to make Middlesbrough forward Andy Campbell his first signing.
Recently appointed Bruce wanted the 22-year-old speed merchant when he was in charge at Huddersfield Town but the Teesside outfit rejected his £1million bid at the time. However, this time round he could meet with better luck as the Boro fringe player looks almost certain to be pushed further down the pecking order when new manager elect Steve McClaren is officially appointed at the helm at the Riverside Stadium. The tall powerful running Campbell is likely to cost the Selhurst Park club around £1.2million. |
Has no-one fot a clue who these sighnings are gonna be cos they either have to be more expesive then 2.75 mil or have to have a bigger name then Lombardo to be our biggest signings so that would rule out any of huddersfield or Andy Campbell or any of watford. The way i see it is its down to:
Koumas Forsell Adams Irwin or someone who has not be mentioned but is as good as the above. Any ideas, please i just want to know now |

Prior to that he spent virtually the entire season on the bench at Coventry, so like any player short of match fitness and coming back from injury he was largely ineffectual. He's only 24/25 and has a proven record at the Nationwide level, and would be quite a cheap option for the team. |
The New Signings
Sorry to piss on your bonfire but its Dennis Irwin and Noel Whelan!
:( |
Source?

His arse perhaps?
