The reason we've ditched five players is to bring the wage bill down so we can afford the loans and free transfers which are the only thing we can afford until we've got the 30M and 24M transfer deals we made with Liverpool paid off. Alongside the other 50M odd we spent the season before last.

We spent 79M the season before last. Then something in the region of 40M the season after.
I'll trust you on the figures, but people need to understand this. We need 2 players for every position that can do it at this level in the squad. This has been something which has plagued us for years. Sako comes in as 4th choice in the wide attack in a 433, behind Zaha, Townsend and Ayew. He is a short term solution with relatively little risk. Sako is proven asset at this level and cheaper than players like Che Adams, Bowen, Watkins, Eze etc. I do think this is a reasonable move from the club, but would like to see a signing with a view to the future in the summer.
