As a competition, it can throw up some real giant killing. Like so much else about french football, it is wildly unpredictable. Some might say that applies to the French as well....

For obscure reasons, I have a soft spot for Angers, so it is nice to see them hosting Nice at the weekend. It should be a nice payday for Croix de Savoie. Bordeaux v Le Mans could be tricky. Le Mans have played above themselves again this season, but they are a solid team and quite good going forward. They've got a great little Japanese guy there called Matsui who always catches my eye when I see them. Then again, that might just be because you don't see that many Japanese players around...

Marseille v Monaco is the other glamour tie. Gotta fancy Marseillw for it, I guess, but Piquionne can turn games if he's in the mood.
