I worked a 4 day week for a few years.

I felt I was working the same amount of hours (though some at home) and workload as colleagues receiving a 5 day salary. I put up with it because I appreciated the 3 day weekend, so the positive outweighed the negative.

I doubt this policy would work for many jobs, particularly those in customer service roles, catering, education etc. Someone has to be in the work place every day, so companies will seek to save money on the 4-day person’s salary if they have to pay for another person to replace them on the day they’re not at work.
