You can get a strong core from deadlifts. As well as a strong pretty much everything else. King of all exercises.

I’m sure Max and his fitness coaches know better than us though.

That'll be the squat.

However, the 4 main power-lifts are key for core strength (Squat, Deadline, Bench & Military Press) - just ask Jim Wendler

I know nothing about weight lifting or exercise but when Joshua lost his titles a view was expressed that he over uses weights because strength does not equate to stamina and in effect weight training had reduced his stamina.

Isn't he a vegan ... Maybe needs a few steak fillets to improve himself on the pitch.
Also maybe Roy's generation doesn't trust vegan/vegetarian Germans, limiting his game time?

Very debatable. I (and many others) would say deadlift - More muscle activation, and heavier possible weights. Comfortably the two best lifts though, and the foundations of my gym routine along with various bench presses.

I don’t think Max is in any danger of that at his current physique.

You can see it in the likes of Lukaku though, and arguably Connor Wickham three- four years back.

Possibly even Wardy too? Bulked up quite a bit around 2014 to 16 and didn’t seem to have quite the same legs as he did in the championship or under Pulis.

Ward went to America for the whole off season and went on a specialist program to bulk up.

Interesting. Don’t think he was ever the same post Pulis, and the extra bulk might’ve played a part as I think he lost a yard of pace and movement, but Pardew’s shit fitness regime and and terrible defensive coaching is probably mostly to blame.

This nonsense being written about Meyer's physical size being a hindrance, surely we knew what we were getting when he signed and it certainly did not hold him back from playing for one of the top league sides or being picked to play for Germany.
He is a quality player of that there is no doubt, it is just a question that his style of play (touch and move) is not suited to our more robust style, and that is why Roy will have to make a decision on Meyer's Palace future this summer as to whether he fits the bill of creator in the team, if yes then he needs to become a regular starter.

Hodgson said at the VP dinner that the physicality of the EPL was a big issue for Max. He was totally exhausted in many of the games. Burnley away he told the club he had never experienced anything like that in his whole career.

I think this pre season he will have time to improve strength and stamina. Could be huge for him.

Of course it was mate, I understood your point His pace decline is probably due to Wardy getting older sadly, but still a decent player and great clubman.

It’s obvious to literally everyone that his physical presence is a huge reasons why he’s not playing more.

But why should it be? Yes we all know the Premiership is a physical league but we also knew what we were getting when he signed him, also lets not forget he came from a fairly physical league in Germany. Is his physique very different to the Silva's at City or that of Luca Modric who happens to be World player of the year, so could it be as i said the problem lay's more with right player wrong club? his style is more suited to a team playing a more fluid passing game.
We need to show more faith in his ability and only if and when played on a regular basis will we see the player we know he can be.
