Unlike the FA Cup, the two clubs do still have to mutually agree the prices For carabao games

For cup games, the club is limited to how many tickets are given away free, presumably because the ticket income is split. The home team can only give away 250 complimentary tickets, above that number they must be accounted for at the appropriate rate.

Suppose if you have got sp money it's hard to relate to normal people if a family go to col game probaly cost about 50 £ tickets travel food programe ect now that might be a lot to that dad.sp wouldn't worry on spending that on a bottle of wine maybe they should get a fans group to give them a idea at what price would be fair and encourage fans to watch a second 11 palace team v a 4 th tier club personally think anything over a tenner for a adult would be to much fans deff voted with there feet last night let's hope lessons are learned .

It was £15 adults, free for under 12s. Not that different to what you’ve proposed.

Regardless of the level of the opposition, the club has to cover the cost of running the match (stewards, catering staff, utilities etc).

And the clubs agree on ticket prices and split takings.

It’s football....you buy a ticket to watch but there’s no guarantee of a win (sadly).

It was obvious that Roy would play few first teamers yesterday.

Surely someone at the club must have the common sense to realise that these early round league cup games have limited appeal therefore a tenner right up until kick off will bring a few thousand more in and therefore actually generate more income via the club shop, food, drink, programmes etc. I'm fairly sure Southampton have gone as low as a fiver for these games in the past resulting in a sold out St Mary's.

As well as this, why aren't they giving away the empty seats in the Arthur to local youth groups, schools etc? We should be encouraging young kids to come along to support the team and become the next generation. Football is an expensive hobby these days, games like last night should be used to give everyone a rare affordable opportunity to come to Selhurst. The lack of forsight from the club in so many areas is beyond frustrating.
I agree I’d rather see empty seats used. I have known the club give some away to schools in the past, but bear in mind the schools are currently on their summer holidays.

You usually need the school office to be open (and willing to promote the tickets to their pupils/parents). Tricky to organise in August at short notice.

But I assume Palace still runs football summer courses for youngsters, so maybe could have distributed freebies through those? Plus give a pair to each of our academy/youth team pupils and use the Palace in the community network. With a bit of imagination and preparation, I agree that we could have distributed many more.
